A Valuable Investment at Kotor’s Municipality Underway: Building of the new bridge at Skurda, as the old one had been demolished during a huge storm which had hit Kotor in October of 2007, commenced several days ago.
Deputy President of the Municipality, Zeljko Avramovic said that the deadline for finishing of the bridge is two months.
Podgorica-based company “Fidija”, which had won a tender for this project, has demolished the old bridge recently and started with the preparation works.
Avramovic said that the foundations for the bridge are being built and that the construction would be prepared on alternative site and put at place, “so that there will be no massive construction works.”
“New bridge will be slightly wider than the old one. It will have two traffic lanes, three meters each, and pedestrian sidewalk on each side. Electricity, water supplying and telephone installations would be built into the bridge”, Avramovic said.
Value of the project is Euro 300,000.
The old bridge had been built more than 40 years ago and had been a connection with the entrance to the Old Town at the Northern Gate from Tabacina side.
Following the damage inflicted by the storm, Montenegrin Army had provided a pontoon bridge, which had been set up as a temporary solution, till the finish of the new one.
