Budva – All of us had once wished to find ourselves on the edge between life and death, to feel the adrenalin shock and thrill that takes ones breath away.
Their popularity across the globe is huge. And, more recently, they are also becoming a hit at Budva’s Riviera. One simply has to choose between different sports available for tourists all around Budva.
These sports are often used as anti-stress therapy for businessmen. These days, they are more and more present as a part of the tourist offer in many metropolises in the Mediterranean realm.
Our recommendation is: try it out, while staying in Budva. Choose between a flying kite or paragliding, bungee jumping, exploring the depths of the sea as a scuba-diver…
Of course, maximum security provides safety even for those who are afraid when trying out these sports. It is enough to simply relax. And enjoy the feeling which is, as those who did it say, impressive and truly impossible to describe with words.
One of the best ways to feel the adrenalin pumping through each pore of your body is to do bungee-jumping. Platform, which is 40 meters high, had been built in the corner of Slovenska plaza and it became one of the key attractions for fans of extreme sports over the past couple of years.
Jumps are completely safe. However, if you are afraid, you can always jump with an instructor. The feeling is truly exciting, as it includes loosing ground under feet and jumping into the abyss. It is a winning combination for all those who love to feel the thrill.
Price of one jump is Euro 30. There is also a possibility to get a photograph or video-recording of you doing it. Men receive a diploma after a jump, as it is a sort of a “test of manhood.” Women do not receive anything, as it goes without saying that they are brave.
For those who love heights, a mountain from the northern side of Budva, hides a location called Brajici. Often hidden in clouds, this little village is one of the most famous paragliding starting points in Montenegro.
This starting point is situated on the altitude of 760 meters above the sea level and provides a unique view of Budva’s bay, blue sea and the island of St. Nicholas. A panorama that takes ones breath away.
Favorable winds take paragliding pilots down to their finish point, marked on Becici beach. Mixture of mild Mediterranean and sharp mountain air lives unforgettable taste. Flight direction is S, SE, SW and throughout the flight, adventurers enjoy the sights of Budva, which makes Brajici one of the most attractive starting points on the Adriatic.
Water skiing has always been one of the most interesting adrenalin sports. Building of ski-lifts, like the one which was built two years ago on the Western peer, makes water skiing accessible for all fans of water sports.
Aqua-ski-lift at Becici has been proclaimed as the most beautiful in the world and it allows all those who enjoy this kind of sports to learn how to ski on the blue sea surface.
This sport provides a unique feeling of contact with the sea. Contestant struggle to stay on the surface makes you want to try it over and over again.
For ones own safety, adjustment of speed, starting platform and different sorts of equipment available for the users, this aqua-ski-lift provides the possibility of recreation and fun for both children and adults. At the same time, it can also be used by professional sportsmen.
Challenge for Scuba-Divers
Underwater world in Budva’s bay has always been a challenge for the scuba-divers. Everlasting temptation to which one keeps returning, in order to wonder through the depths of the sea and meet the unexplored, makes this experience unique.
Numerous scuba-diving clubs are stationed at Budva’s Riviera and they organize daily training courses for scuba-divers and visits to attractive locations.
Immediate coastal area, where the depth goes down to the average of 35 meters, after which the seabed is mostly sandy. Underwater rocks are rich with Gorgonias and corals, while meadows of Posidonia algae cover the seabed.
Scuba-divers also have the possibility to take photos of dentex, orada cantor, gray mullet and other sorts of fish. Encounters with big stone bass, moray eel, pigeon-fish, rays and lobsters are also quite usual.
Sea temperature in summer time varies between 21 and 25 degrees, which allows a rather comfortable diving. Sea water during winter rarely falls bellow 13 degrees. Salinity is 36, while the visibility ranges from 15 to 36 meters.
