Montenegro Important on a Map of Congress Tourist Destination: British magazine “Conference and Incentive Travel” runs a piece on Montenegro, advertising its’ potential for MICE (Meeting, Incentives, Conferences-Congresses, Events) tourism. Montenegro responds with foundation of Montenegro Convention Bureau, where interested tourists can get all the information they might need.
Budva – The situation where Montenegro, gradually, conquers all aspects of tourism, including the position of the regional leader in MICE tourism (MICE stands for: Meeting, Incentives, Conferences-Congresses, Events) has recently been confirmed by the writing of world’s leading travel magazines.
Famous British specialized MICE-magazine, “Conference and Incentive Travel Magazine” ran an article about Montenegro as a congress destination in its’ July/August edition.
This magazine presents hotels and agencies which could host demanding clientele, as well as ideas for motivation travels, information about the new flight from London, etc.
In its’ introduction, magazine quotes director of the National Tourist Organization, Sasa Radovic revealing that the British tourists have been the ones who pioneered the discovery of Montenegro, as a country of rich natural, cultural and historic diversity. This country has, in the meantime, significantly improved its’ infrastructure and hotels and is ready to greet organized groups of businessmen.
Article includes the opinion of famous agency-organizers of such business trips, who have answered the following to the question “Do you have Montenegro in mind as a congress destination which you would suggest to your clients?”:
“This is the destination which we have in mind, as our clients always want to know what will be the next big thing. Montenegro has a certain mysticism to it and I know that very good hotels are being built, that Sveti Stefan is being renovated.” (Tina Morris, Adding Value Agency)
“Montenegro is a bit rustic, but beautiful country which has gorgeous nature and is excellent for guests with adventurous spirit. Infrastructure exists in the field which interests DMC agencies. However, accommodation facilities are still limited. What will be most helpful is once ‘Amman Resorts’ opens Sveti Stefan.” (Matt Smith, Black Tomato)
“This is a rising destination. Getting there had been the problem in the past. This has now been overcome with direct flights and renovated airports. So, we do keep Montenegro in mind as an option for our clients.” (Corrina-Jayne Hughes, Kuoni Events)
Features about Montenegro are increasingly being published by many leading specialized magazine. Other British magazine pinpointed Montenegro as a potential congress destination, including British “Conference +Meetings World" and "M&IT", as well as French “Bedouk.”
Director of the National Tourist Organization, Sasa Radovic says that Montenegro has a well-developed strategy which follows on world trends. In that respect, National Tourist Organization founded
Montenegro Convention Bureau- MCB in April this year.
“This is our focal point for MICE-markets and starting point for all those who intend to organize a conference, a congress or an incentive travel to Montenegro and which has all the data on locations, specialized tourist agencies (DMC- Destination Management Companies) and hotels. At the moment, MBC has 12 members.
These are mostly four or five-star hotels, which poses facilities required by modern conference standards, as well as professional agencies.
For Montenegro as a tourist destination, this target group is very important, as this type of guests have huge financial potential and they travel, mostly, outside of the main season, which is both fully in line with the strategy for the development of Montenegrin tourism”, Radovic said, adding that a special brochure has been prepared for this type of offer in Montenegro.
The publication is entitled: “Montenegro: The Next Place To Meet” and it includes all crucial information on this sort of offer in Montenegro, as well as contact of the Congress Bureau and other important contacts, like Montenegro Airlines or Adriatic Fair.
Also, DMCs like: Talas M, Black Mountain, Luminalis, Adriatic Express and hotels: ‘Splendid Conference and Spa Resort’, ‘Beppler and Jacobson’, ‘The Queen of Montenegro’, ‘Maestral’, ‘Princess’ and ‘Podgorica’”, Radovic has concluded.
