Kotor – The Sixth International Kotor Summer festival was opened last night with a majorettes' defile. The manifestation is to last for five days. Upon the grand opening, those who took part in procession and visitors moved to Jovan ship and sailed to Mujanska Riva. A traditional fishermen night with wine was held there. For this particular occasion 250 kilos of fish, 500 liters of wine and gallons of free beer were prepared.
According to Vasilje Bajrovic, NGO Feste director, this is one of the greatest international summer carnivals having in mind the number of countries and persons who attend it, which is more than 35 thousand.
Apart from numerous troupes from Kotor and other Montenegrin towns, this carnival will host troupes from Italy, Ukraine, Croatia, Slovenia, and Serbia. During carnival days, there will be a rich program full of manifestations adapted to tourists’ needs – Kotor’s rich cultural heritage is to be presented – said Bajrovic.
A masquerade for kids will take place at Arms Square at 8.30 this evening, and an hour later there will be Musulje Feast an Prcanj Riva. Parilo Piazza will host traditional Boka Cuisine manifestation on August 1 at 9.30 P.M. An hour after that Jelena Rozga is to have her Promonte live concert at the main town square.
A boat trip is scheduled for August 2 – ‘Boka under mask’ sets off at 8 P.M and the trip will take place at Kotor – Prcanj – Perast – Kotor locations. At the Perast town museum there will be an exhibition Perast’s masques – back to tradition.
Arms square wil host yet another manifestation on August 3 – ‘The most masqued town’ will start at 9 P.M. with music happening and carnival troupes’ introduction. The carnival procession with all its original and imaginative masques will walk through Kotor on August 4. Organizer of this event is NGO Feste, and it is sponsored by the Ministry of Tourism and Niksic Brewery. The event was helped by Jugopetrol., Lovcen Osiguranje, Ju Briv, Autoboka, Plantaze, Hipotekarna Banka, Knjaz Milos and Karampana Agency
