Yappy Corruption on the bonfire - Kotor, Montenegro

The prosecutor said that “Yappy Corruption” belongs to a “gender of sharks from the distant oceans”.
- He is familiar with every kind of meanness. He is multiplying very progressively, with the speed, which makes you dizzy in the head. As a giant polyp he sucks the blood from your heart, he has spread on every side, went into the every life hole, and he resists everyone. In our great health organization, it is found for a long time. It looks like it is also in our judicious system, and that it took the cream from the top of the dish, so every day we are waiting for new news, what gifts some people got. Lets not spend the words on the education system; it is an old truth the positive grade costs a lot of euros and dollars. Now the real estate turnover is flourishing here, the entire patrimony is being sold. In order to prove the ownership people have to “bribe” the cadastre – these are just some of the accusations, which the prosecutor stated.

The lawyer of the “Yappy Corruption” said that his client is not afraid of any court.

The defile of the carnival groups down the main town street, which were led by the hat of the Kotor carnival Ma Jovica Martinovic, majorettes and the city music from Kotor, and from neighboring municipalities was held before the burning of the carnival. Later the masked procession with the guests moved to the Old town where the fiesta was continued on the squares and the streets. The Kotor NGO “Fiesta” organized traditional winter carnival fiestas, which started on The 9th of February.

FORGOT THE EASTER FASTING

Kotor’s bishopric reacted yesterday on the fact that the carnival was held during the easter fasting.

General vicar monsignor Anton Belan said for “Vijesti” that the masked balls and carnivals have to end before the “clean Wednesday”, that is the ash day, when the fasting begins.

_The fiestas should have been over on the 18th or 20th February. Herceg Novi, Tivat, Prcanj, and Tuzi honored that, and why is Kotor an exception, more over because with the credit of the NGO “Fiesta” it was listed in the Federation of the European carnival towns –said Belan.

As he added he will inform the federation about that. The obligation of the organizer is, points out Belan, to honor the date of the end of the carnival festivities, as it is done everywhere in the world.

- Cultural phenomena of masks and carnivals, which has pagan roots, which the Christianity accepted and in some way Christianized, has preserved itself in the area of the Mediterranean in some special way, from antique times till nowadays. Masks and carnivals are well known, but in somewhat lower degree in the Christian nations, and in the interiors of Montenegro very poorly – said Belan.

With that attitude, he added, the feelings of both churches have been hurt, because the Orthodox Church has began its Easter fasting.
- This year the Easter falls on the same day for both religions – on the 8th of April – said Belan.
