Mountain tours and marked tracks (paths)
Durng the past decades the lovers of nature and mountain climbing, who are numerous on Zabljak, have marked over 2.000 kilometers of the tracks, which go through the most vivid areas in this part of Europe. Thanks to them today you can go all over the massif of Durmitor in some of the numerous tours. Let’s get acquainted with some of them:
1. Zabljak (1421 m of height above the sea level) – Sibalica katun – Ledena pecina – Valoviti do – Velika previja – Bobotov kuka (2522 m of height above the sea level)
At moments very demanding and hard tour, with a few exquisite sightseeing places, partly going through the wood, and the time needed for climbing is about 6 hours.
2. Sedlo (1907 m of height above the sea level) – Surutka – Zeleni vir – Velika previja – Bobotov kuk (2522 m of height above the sea level)
Height variation is about 755 meters. It is one of the most difficult tours, and the time needed for climbing is about 3 hours.
3. Zabljak (1421 m of height above the sea level) – Lokvice – Biljegov do – Valoviti do – Bezimeni vrh (2487 m of height above the sea level)
Very strenuous and hard tour, which at the beginning goes through the forest; terrain is karsts, and the time needed for climbing, is about 6 hours.
4. Crno jezero (1417 m of height above the sea level) – Mioc poljana – Struga – Mali Medjed – Veliki Medjed-north summit (2288 m of height above the sea level)
For the most part the tour goes through the forest. It has a great sightseeing place on Mali Medjed (SMALL BEAR). This tour is considered to be one of the most difficult ones and the time needed for climbing is about 3 hours.
5. Crno jezero (1417 m of height above the sea level) – Mioc poljana – Struga – Velika kalica – Velika previja – Terzin bogaz (2303 m of height above the sea level)
Height variation is 906 meters. Time needed for climbing is 3 hours and 30 mintes. The path goes through the conifer forest for 1/3 of its length. You pass by Debeli namer where there is snow all over the year.
6. Crno jezero (1417 m of height above the sea level) – Tocak – Mioc poljana – Poljana – Panalj – Cista strana – Sljeme (2455 m of height above the sea level)
Height variation is about 1868 meters. Time needed for climbing is about 4 hours. Extremely strenuous and har tour, great sightseeing places, and which in one part of the tour goes through the conifer and mixed forest.
7. Sedlo (1907 m of height above the sea level) – Zubci – Sedleni do – Sedlena greda (2227 m of height above the sea level)
Time needed for climbing is 1 hour and 30 minutes. Moderately hard tour, without any forest.
8. Crno jezero (1417 m of height above the sea level) – Lokvice – Sagorele ploce – Minin bogaz (2387 m of height above the sea level)
Height variation is 1090 meters. Time needed for climbing is 4 hours and 30 minutes. Extremely interesting tour for alpine climbing.
9. Zabljak (1421 m of height above the sea level) – Zmijinje jezero – Crepulj poljana – Alisnica – Gornje lokve – Medjedje zdrijelo – Planinica (2330 m of height above the sea level) + going down towards the mountain home in Skrka (1723 m of height above the sea level)
Height variation about 900 meters without the going down. Time needed for climbing is about 4 hours. Very strenuous and hard tour because of the Height variation, and because of the very length of the path which is 12 kilometers. It is possible to visit interesting caves and Skrcka lakes.
10. Zabljak (1421 m of height above the sea level) – Bosaca – Mala greda – Veliki tavan – Crvena greda (2164 m of height above the sea level) + Gologlav – Katun Veliki stuoc – Big curve on the way to Stuoc
A tour with a height variation of 726 meters to Crvena greda. Time needed for climbing is 1 hour and 30 minutes. It is an easy tour, which is recommended to beginners.
11. Dobri do (1671 m of height above the sea level) – Skrcko zdrijelo – Prutas – Skrcka jezera
Moderately hard tour with one exposed detail – a cape.
12. Todorov do (1830 m of height above the sea level) – Izvor Pistet – Ilijin do Prutas (2393 m of height above the sea level)
Time needed for climbing is 1 hour and 30 minutes. Averagely hard tour with a sightseeing place on the summit of Prutas.
13. Katun ograde (1595 m of height above the sea level) – Susicko jezero – Vodopad Skakala – Skrka (1723 m of height above the sea level)
Time needed for climbing is about 3 hours and 30 minutes. Moderately strenuous tour. It goes through a mixed forest all over its length.
Also one of the popular extreme sports when we are talking about Durmitor is mountain biking. To meet Durmitor on two wheels is an exquisite experience if you know that many destinations are reachable. Zabljak has exquisite paths and here are held numerous competitions in most various disciplines of mountain bike, from those most simple ones to the most extreme ones such as the downhill. Several tours stand out with its beauty and prompting:
1. Zabljak (1436 m of height above the sea level) – Virak – Pasina voda – Prevoj Sedlo – Dobri do – Prevoj Prijespa – Pisce – Trsa – Nedajno – Susicko jezero –Katun ograde – Crna Gora – Vidikovac Veliki Stuoc – Poljane – Hotel Zabljak (1436 m of height above the sea level)
The tour is known as a ring around Durmitor, and it is a meeting of the entire mountain on two wheels. The length of the tour is 86 kilometers, and it last about 8 hours. It demands a great physical strength and preparation, and some of the most interesting destinations, among which is the canyon of Susica, are being visited.
2. Zabljak (1436 m of height above the sea level) – Njegovudje – Bare Zugica – Riblje jezero – Vrazije jezero – Banske kuce – Javorje – Zabljak (1436 m of height above the sea level)
The length of the tour is 38 kilometers, and it is moderately hard. You go over an asphalt road and the time needed for the tour is 1 hour and 30 minutes and it is recommended to all those who like this sport.
