Tivat – According to the announcements of the maritime employees, the upcoming nautical season in Boka will be one of the best ones in the last 15 years, because with the arrival of the great number of smaller and bigger private yachts with foreign nautical tourist, we are expecting a more or less regular sailing in inside the bay of several passenger’s ships – cruisers on their cruising over the Mediterranean.
– We already have a list of the ships which this year will sail in Boka and we are talking about some 110 – 115 arrivals. Some bigger advance in the sense of a more regular sailing in of bigger cruisers in our harbors doesn’t exist, but we are given a chance to, all of us together as a society, improve our image as a tourist destination for cruising tourism by regularly treating those ships and tourists which will come this summer – said for “vijesti” director of the nautical agency Boka Adritic, Ivo Begovic adding that foreign partners are already announcing the arrivals of ships for the year 2008 and that that number is already close to a figure of 100 docking ins for the next year.
From Boka Adriatic they have announced that this year one of the ships from the fleet of the renowned Italian company “Costa Crociere” from Genoa will sail in, in Boka, three times. It is a cruiser “Costa Marina” of 25.500 tones, of capacity of 760 passengers. This 174m long ship will stay in Kotor for the first time on the 30th of April, and other two sailings in are planned for the 11th of May and 25th of October. Even though it is the smallest and oldest ship in “Costa’s” fleet which is made of 12 big “sailing vessels”, the arrival of “Costa Marina” in Boka this year is significant for both promoting of this destination, and an attempt to have “Costa” list in Kotor in its list of regular harbors on which their ships stop by during their cruising over the Mediterranean.
Namely, first attempt of that kind, three years ago when in the summer a ship “Costa Tropicale”, of 36.700 tones, sailed in regularly in the harbor of the ancient town with foreign tourist was not successful because the Italians, because disappointed with a bad relationship of our tourist employees, not good hygiene and insufficient awareness of the entire town of the importance of the regular arrival of the big cruiser with over a thousand of passengers, they soon excluded Kotor from the list of regular harbors in which they bring their rich passengers.
Our entire society, therefore, has to become aware of the importance of the arrival of tourists on cruising ships in order for that project to succeed in the right way and so that all of us would benefit from it – said Begovic, adding that there are several ships of that kind which have announced their arrival in Boka, and that they are an opportunity for us to impose ourselves with kindness, tourist, trading and hotel and restaurant contents, because natural beauties we already have, and we are also not lacking in expertise and efficiency in the work of the nautical agencies, and maritime authorities. If all the cubes are arranged in a right way and the passengers of “Costa Marina” are satisfied this year, we can expect that the Italian company in the future will send their far more bigger and luxurious cruisers such as “Costa Mediteranee” and “Coste Atlantice” of 85.7000 tones more often in Boka. Those colossuses which are 292 m long with over 2, 1 thousands of passengers have stoped by in the bay in previous years, but most often they didn’t tie themselves in the harbor, but they just simply drove along the shores of the area which is under protection of UNESCO slowly, so that their passengers can enjoy in the view of the old bulwarks and edifices of Kotor, Perast, Prcanj…
Else, on the list of cruisers which this year through Boka Adriatic will sail in, in Boka, are luxurious passenger’s ships “Insignia”, and “Regatta” of 30.227 tones, capacity of 684 passengers, which are the ownership of the company “Oceana Cruises” from Miami. Renowned sailor “Silversea Cruises” from Florida will be present with their cruisers “Silver Cloud” of 16.800 tones and 296 passengers, and with its “Silver Whisper” of 28.260 tones and 388 passengers.
