Tivat – Preparations for the beginning of construction of ferry, which in the shipbuilding yard Izola in Slovenia recently enterprise “Pomorski saobracaj” from Kamenari ordered, are slowly intensifying.
That at the same time will be the first boat in the Montenegrin trading fleet. Major owner and the executive director of “Pomorski saobracaj” Dejan Ban said that Slovenian shipbuilding yard has ordered the steel metal plates and key elements of the machinery complex of the new ship, which will be distributed to them by the renown foreign manufacturers, so the construction of the ship will begin latest during August.
The new ferry of “Pomorski saobracaj”, which still hasn’t got the official name, will be the first newly built ship in Montenegrin trading fleet after 17 years. The last more significant entirely new vessel was build for our trading navy in 1990.
– With the contract we have signed with the shipbuilding yard Izola, it is predicted that the new ferry will be delivered to us on the 7th of May next year, but I think that that could happen even a bit sooner because there are some stimulation measures in the contract should the ferry be finished before the dead line – said Ban.
The new ferry, which will serve 4 to 6 members of the crew, is being built according to a special project purposefully developed to respond to specific demands and needs of “Pomorski saobracaj”.
The ship will be 59,75 meters long, 16 meters wide with the 2,2 meters draft, and it will be constructed in that way to fulfill all technical demands for the big oversea sailing, and not just the sailing inside the Boka bay where it will be primarily used on the line Kamenari – Lepetane.
SHORTER RIDE OVER VERIGE
The project, Bureau “Boat consulting” from Rijeka, in the construction of the new ferry applied the most modern technological solutions such as the ones which are being used in the newest vessels of that kind in the world, which means the huge usage of electronics and modern concession of the ship machinery complex.
The new ship, in difference to the existing ferries of “Pomorski saobracaj” will not have to turn around during the docking in Lepetane, which will significantly decrease the lasting of the ride over the pass Verige.
The capacity of the new ship is 60 small automobiles, which is about 20% more than in ferry “Igalo”, at the moment the biggest in the fleet of “Pomorski saobracaj”.
The height of the commanding bridge over the deck is sufficient to allow biggest trucks with outstanding dimensions to embark on the ferry with no problems.
