Tivat – Great storm which caught Boka Kotorska yesterday (11.08) made a lot of problems to the citizens of Tivat. Because of the small break through of water in the dock in building, Tivat airport yesterday morning was closed, and the rain has flooded several basements and ground floors of buildings especially in Seljanovo.
According to the words of director of Tivat airport Ranko Boskovic the outpour canals on the roof of the dock in building didn’t have sufficient capacities to receive that big amount of water because between two and three o’clock a.m. about 80 liters of rain per square meter fell in Tivat. That is why the water, coming from roof canals has went under the metal of the roof of the dock in building and has damaged a part of gyps hanging ceiling on the terminal for arrivals, in some part of service offices, and on gate 6 of the departure terminal of the airport Tivat.
Boskovic pointed out that except two video cameras for video surveillance the water hasn’t damaged the other electronic systems and devices on the airport, so after the cleaning of the offices and removal of the damaged gyps tiles the dock in building was again in function around 11 o’clock when the air traffic with Tivat was normalized once again. Beacsue of the problems in the dock in building 5 planes didn’t land on Tivat airport yesterday morning because of which they were re-directed to airport Podgorica. Tivat firefighters too had their hands full because they were draining the water from the flooded basement and the ground floor of the building A – 2 in Seljanovo, while the teams of Communal enterprise were out from 4 a.m. removing the consequences of the bead weather which has caught Boka.
According to the words of director of Communal enterprise Rade Popovic strong wind has broken a lot of branches on the trees in the park and in Tivat alleys of which one in Donja LAstva has even damaged a car. Communal workers were removing the sand and mud from city streets which were brought by the floods and the teams of Crnagoraput nearby the pump station Plavda in Lepetane have removed about 10 cubic of sand and waste material which the floods brought. Huge rain has turned a big hole, that is the foundations of the future city square on Turkova field, which for the moment is being used as a parking lot, into a pool in which several cars were half drowned for which they engaged a spider to pull them out from the water.
Communal workers have removed from the pavement below the alley on city square about 20 dead birds for which the last nights weather was fatal, and the rain and the strong south wind have made a lot of damage to the owners of boats along the Tivat Riviera by sinking and filling with water a large number of smaller vessels.
On all troubles of people from Tivat which were caused by bad weather yesterday they also had big traffic jams so the line of vehicles on Adriatic highway which were waiting to get on board on the ferry in Lepetane were at time longer than 2 km and the line went up to the hotel Tivat in Seljanovo. That has caused numerous jams in surrounding Tivat streets, and citizens of Lepetane were particularly cut off from the rest of the town or they were stuck in a line and had a very long journey to their homes.
THEY ARE CLOSING VENTS TO EACH OTHER
Mrvaljevic said that Water works can’t guarantee the whole day water supply in certain parts of Sveti Stefan because, as she said, unusual, non-cooperation of citizens from that area with the crews of their enterprise on the issue of long time announced appeal of closing of vents.
– Teams of Water works in the last few days have been looking the entire system of the city water works in that area and they haven’t found any irregularities in the system. However, on the internal system, that is on the part of the pipelines with which a part of Sveti Stefan is being supplied there is a system on which citizens can close vents to each other and disable in that way the regular 24-hour supply of water. In those cases we can’t react, until the people from the lodgment Sveti Stefan denounce those people to teams of Water works or police – warned Mrvaljevic.
BUDVA WITHOUT ELECTRICITY AND WATER
Budva – Instead to alleviate the problems with the water supply the long expected rain has brought even bigger problems. Storm weather which yesterday about 3 a.m. came to Budva Riviera has provoked great damages on electrical system and has also caused a great break in water supply.
According to the words of the PR of Water works Vesna Mrvaljevic the rain which fell did not improve the condition on water wells.
– Because of the damage provoked by the bad weather on the electric long distance line on the water well Podgor the consumers in the municipality of Budva yesterday and day before yesterday did not have water. Yesterday’s break in the electrical and energetic supply of water wells lasted for four hours, and the teams of the electrical company have repaired the damage fast, so the system of water supply was back in function around noon – said Mrvaljevic.
Mrvaljevic said that the two nights ago rainfalls were not sufficient to satisfy the needs on the water wells. In order for the condition in water wells to be improved, she explained, it would be necessary for rain to fall during the whole week.
– It is interesting that there were no rainfalls in the area of Buljarica where there is the same named local water well, which is used for water supply of the consumers in Petrovac. Because of very poor amount of waters, which we get from that well we have to continue our daily water, breaks. We are asking citizens not to block the passage of cisterns with their cars through the lodgments in which we have to bring water – pointed out Mrvaljevic.
Head of the Service of protection and rescue Zdravko Sljukic said that that service had their hands full of work. In that service 40 minutes after midnight they had to go on hill Toplis where a thunder has cause a fire. Soon the rain fell so the fire was soon extinguished. According to the official data, during the night between Thursday and Friday around 57 liters of water per meter cubic fell, ad the communal workers have managed yesterday to bring everything in order downtown and to clean the streets from the waste which the storm brought in.
