Herceg Novi – Electrical bas guitar “Hofner violin 500/1 of Paul Macartni, which on the concert of Beatles in one british town in 1969 he threw in the audience, is found in the Music school in Herceg Novi.
That claims ***************, cameraman and as he likes to call himself a great fun of art, which in an very unusual way got the valuable instrument.
The circumstanced under which the guitar of the famous Beatles got in Herceg Novi are story for itself, and it goes back to the concert of the greatest rock and roll band until nowadays, when everything that is connected to its members has almost historical, but also a big material value, says *********.
– My cousin, ***** *******, from Marger near Venice, in 1969, as a nineteen year old boy was at the concert of Beatles in Great Britain where he was on an excursion. The neck of the guitar cracked at the Concert so Macartni simply threw the guitar in the audience, which was full of girls who were simply screaming and full of young men who jumped to grab the instrument. My cousin was very close, and the guitar fell directly into his arms – says **********.
For a long time the guitar was at ********. *************** says that his cousin – odd stick, painter, rocker, and lover of sports fishing – gave him the valuable instrument after a long time of persuasion.
– ******* is not an instrument collection, but he has a great collection of LP’s of Beatles, with which he has filled a showcase and that collection is extremely valuable. He has old gramophones and today he is in rock music – says *******, adding that he himself was in the music in the band “*****” where he played the keyboards.
– For years I begged and asked my cousin to give me that guitar, which Macartni bought in the beginning of 1960’s. I got the guitar from Darion in 1989. I kept it at home until I didn’t get a desire to give it to Music school, because I saw that many painters and other benefactors are giving their valuable things. I record the concerts of professors and students for Music school. I consider myself to be a friend of the school, and my gift is an artistic gesture – says ************.
He says that “not everything is money”, and that the Music school is the right place for a guitar like this.
There are a lot of benefactors. One of the first is the painter Vojo Stanic. The guitar, a gift from *********, provoked great attention of the participants of the Guitar fest festival. It is amazing for everyone that it is here – says the director of the Music school Branislav Najdanovic. The neck of the bas guitar “Hofner violin 500/1” ************ has patched, which can be seen on it. One can play it, but hardly, because the wires because of the damage are a bit raised.
The prices of “Hofner 500/1” guitar from the 1960’s, which even today are sold through Internet or through some other advertisers, cost several thousands of euros. For experts there’s no doubt that the guitar in Music school is an authentic instrument from the 1960’s. Pol Macartni could confirm that that is the guitar which because of the broken neck he threw in the audience 38 years ago.
THE MOST FAMOUS BAS IN THE WORLD
‘Hofner bas violin 500/1” known also under the name of “Hofner Beatles 500/1” since 1956 is produced by the Germna Hofner company which in 1887 was founded by Carl Hofner. Paul Macartni, buying it for the first time in Hamburg, in a music instrument shop, celebrated the most famous bas guitar. According to the data about the most popular bas from the Internet, Macartni bought the first Hofner at the beginning of the carrier for Beatles, because that was the cheapest guitar of decent sound and shape, which suited him. He saw it at some other musicians in Hamburg, and decided to try it and buy it. At that time “Hofner” bas guitar costed 35 £, or 125 $. “Hofner bas violin 500/1” is, as its name tells us, and electrical guitar in the shape of the violin, but in difference to others, it is hollow inside. It has a rich and warrm sound and it is easy to play it. The famous “Gibbson” company copied “Hofner 500/1” and produced their own “violin bas” version.
