Herceg Novi – In Herceg Novi city harbor last year about 800 yachts docked in, among them about 30 mega yachts.
During the last year about 40.000 passengers were registered. Navigators often stop by in Herceg Novi harbor because of the price of the fuel, which lower than in the neighboring Croatia and Greece.
For foreign boats, tying costs 2€ per day per meter of the length of the vessel, and navigators are paying the expenses of electricity and water.
For domestic tourist boats the price of the tying knot is 120€ per month. The agency for management of Herceg Novi harbor, during the last year earned 34.000€ from the harbor services, and from that earnings they have financed the work of the employees, two regular and more season workers, and still they have 10.000€.
The capacities of Herceg Novi harbor, whose construction began in 1865, and whose present look it got in 1950’s, are not sufficient for receiving all the interested navigators.
According to some prognosis that problem will become evident in the years to come. Croatia for example, receives 55.000 yachts per year, and Montenegro less than 2.000. There are some ideas to build a new one, but also to expand the existing harbor.
