Plav – Eight traditional tourist-sports manifestation “Lim regatta 2007” has started yesterday from Lim bridge in Plav. In the first stage of the regatta, from Plav to Berane, which is 46 km long, 28 crews went down Lim with about 300 participants.
As Dragoljub Simonovic, the director of mountain ski club “Kolovrat” from Prijepolje, at whose initiative in 2000 the organization of regatta started, said that regatta on the first day starts down the settled route from Plav, from the mouth of Lim, and it goes all the way to Berane, where for the participants there will be organized a suitable cultural entertaining program in the camp.
– The weather was good and ideal for rafting. On the second day we are going through Tifran, one of the most difficult rapids and that stage is being terminated in Bijelo Polje, at the mouth of Bistrica in Lim. Regatta will be finished in Sunday when the third stage is being held, from Bistrica to Prijepolje, to the delta of Milesevka in Lim – said Simovic.
President of the municipality Skender Sarkinovic wished luck and successful rafting on Lim to all the participants of Lim regatta.
– On the crossing border between Serbia and Montenegro, in Kumanica, on the 14th and 15th of June there will be held a first cup in rafting on Lim, which will be an extraordinary occasion for promotion of Lim as a leader for rafting in this part of the Balkans and also Europe – said Simovic.
Except the numerous rafting clubs from Serbia and Montenegro, one team from Bulgaria is taking part in. three sections of Lim regatta have the total length of 134 kilometers and I takes averagely about 6 hours for their overcoming. The organizers of Lim regatta this year are rafting clubs from Montenegro and Serbia, and the founders are TO and municipalities of Plav, Andrijevica, Berane, Bijelo Polje, and Prijepolje.
