Budva – If it is to judge according to the preseason, booking, and current fullness of hotels this summer will be marked by the mass come back of foreign guests to Montenegro. Favorite destination of tourists from west Europe which because of the circumstances at the beginning of 1990’s last years was neglected, thanks to a better offer, strong media campaign on world TV stations and well thought promotion once again is becoming a top place for vacation. Majority of citizens of the Old continent once again in their plans for their travels has Montenegro on their list.
According to official estimates of the Ministry of tourism last year 400.000 foreign tourists visited Montenegro, which 35 to 40% more than in 2005 when there were 280.000 foreign guests or twice as much then in 2004.
With the arrival of foreign guests on Budva Riviera at the beginning of April when the first of five organized groups of Austrian pensioners came, the preseason began a month earlier then before. Totally 9.000 Austrian guests have made Budva at that time to become one of the most visited destinations in the Mediterranean.
According to the words of the assistant of the minister of tourism Nebojsa Popovic, all indicators tell us that this season will be one of the most successful ones according to the number of guests as well as according to the achieved financial results.
– Based on the information which we have from hotelkeepers, tourist agencies, and tour operators we will have even better main season – said Popovic for “Ljeto”.
According to official estimates which were issued by director of National tourist organization Sasa Radovic at the beginning of this season in Budva they are expecting income from tourism of 350 millions of euros or 17% more than last year.
– Prognosis that we have say that Montenegro during 2007 will be visited by 1,1 million of tourists or 11% more than in 2006 – said Radovic, adding that he is expecting the arrival of about half a million of foreign guests or 25% more than last year.
He said that he expects that the foreign guests will make 46% of the total visit, guests from the region 40% and domestic tourists 14%.
