Budva – The management board of City Theater has adopted the drama program of this year’s 21st edition of that festival, which will be held in four program entities: “Taste of the Sea”, “The Friends”, “Time today”, and “Budva Stories”.
This year’s festival will be held under the motto “Do not touch my circles”. As it was previously announced City Theater has made a contract with the executive director of Budva agency “Multimedia group” Marko Kentera in period of three years, and the agency has made commitments that it will carry out drama program in that time period. Nine productions have been predicted, three per year, which will exclusively deal with Budva historical heritage.
– Their own production through the theme called “Budva stories” will elaborate Budva themes and it represents a whole trilogy. Program entity includes three co-productions with important theater houses from the surrounding – they said from the management of the City Theater. In cooperation with the Royal Theater “Zetski dom” and the National Theater from Sombor they will carry out the project of Marko kentera and Nela Antonovic “Kadmo the King”. The director is Nela Antonovic, and the play was inspired by drama “Harmony” of the academic writer Cedo Vukovic. With the National Theater from Tuzla and Serbian National Theater from Novi Sad the second co-production of the City Theater is being prepared. It is a piece of Maja Pelevic “Jump girl” which was inspire by the work of Stefan Mitrov Ljubisa. The piece will be directed by Kokan Mladenovic. Third co-production will be done with Belgrade Yugoslav drama theater, and it is the theater play “Don Kristo” which will be directed by Vida Ognjenovic. The play is inspired by life and the work of the famous Budva writer and chronicle writer Krsto Ivanovic.
In the program entity called “The Friends” they will present the culture from the areas that belonged to Greek and Roman empire, whose part once was Budva. As they said from the City Theater, the mentioned program is the first part of the three year project which starts from the antique territories, and the next year they will present the best plays from the area which Venetian Republic used to occupy, and then the best plays from the area which Austrian- Hungarian Empire used to occupy. The audience this year will have the chance to see the plays from Greece, from the Athens theater “Attis Theater” which will have the onset with the play of Sophocles “Ajax, the madness” directed by Theodoros Terzpoulos, as well as the play “Homeland – Seven Dreams” directed by Nikita Milivojevic, a co-production of Delf festival and BITEF Theater. From Bulgari comes “Theater laboratory Sfumato” with the play “Medea” directed by Dijana Dobreva, while the Romanian National Theater Radu Stanca from Sibiu will come with the play “Electra” directed by Mihaia Maniutiua. Albanian Theater Atelier 31 from Tirana is coming with the play “Medea” directed by Mikel Kaletni, and the Italian Theater A.T.I.R. from Milan will come with the play of Euripides’ “Trojan” directed by Sereno Sinigaglia.
Progtam entity “Time Today” includes achievements from the area of the former SFRJ, so in that way the audience will have the chance to see the play of Podgorica City Theater “Vladimir and Kosara” by Milica Piletic, directed by Sasa Milenkovski. Sarajevo Theater of youth will come with the play “Time Tunnel” by Nenad Velickovic, directed by Admir Glamocak, while Rijeka Croatian Theater association will come with the play of Tennessee Williams “Cat on a Hot Thin Roof” directed by Lari Zapi. National Theater H.K. Joint from Veles will come with the play “Strip Shakespeare” directed by Kole Angelovski. Novi Sad Serbian National Theater will come with the play of Dusan Spasojevic “Crime Against Wild Beasts” directed by Boris Lijesevic, and Slovenian Pandurs Theater from Ljubljana will come with the play “Tesla” by Darko Lukic, directed by Tomas Pandur.
STUDENT’S PROGRAM “TASTE OF THE SEA”
Student’s program “Taste of the Sea” is a drama entity which will gather the best academies from coastal countries of Europe. The host, the faculty of Drama arts from Cetinje will present themselves with the play “Art” by Jasmine Reza, while Drama academy from Helsinki will present themselves with the play “Knives Cut the Air”. Italian Acting academy “Scharoff” from Rome is coming with the play “Odisseo: cossi e se vi pare” directed by Luigi Rendina, while the State academy of theater art from Saint Petersburg will present themselves with “Night rehearsal” by Bulgakov. From Great Britain will come Academy of acting from London, while Drama academy from Ljubljana will come with the play “Medea”.
