Cetinje – New actualization of the construction of the funicular railway from Kotor to Lovccen after almost 100 years comes in the period of fast development of tourism and construction of numerous tourist facilities on Montenegrin coast – said the representative of Montenegrin emigrants in America Blazo Sredanovic at the round table Funicular railway Kotor – Lovcen which was held yesterday on Cetinje in the organization of Cetinje branch of Matica crnogorska.
Sredanovic said that analyzing of preliminary studies of feasibility of the Austrian agency for development, which is related to the project, has led him to work on possible solutions of not just the funicular railway but also of tourist offers in National Park Lovcen.
He said that the project is still in the beginning phase and that everyone can contribute to finding the best solution and proving that the project is necessary for NP Lovcen and Cetinje and along with that, that it is profitable.
Sredanovic stressed that the funicular railway itself is not a tourist offer, nor it can be profitable if what it offers is not attractive, efficient and successful.
According to the feasibility study of the Austrian agency for development, funicular railway would be made from Kotor to Njegos’s mausoleum on Lovcen.
On starting terminals they have predicted among other things, parking places for buses and cars, as well as gondolas and the rooms for hygiene needs and a ticket shop.
In the study it is estimated that about 300.000 people per year would use the funicular railway, while the price for the ride in it would be 20 euros.
In the high season funicular railway with 6 gondolas could transport 500 to 800 tourists in a day.
