Zabljak – Experts of the World union for protection of environment are staying on Zabljak with the goal of promotion of management of the protected area and consider the possibilities of sustainable development of village areas in Durmitor territory. The goal of the delegation is to help in overcoming the existing problems and long-term improvement of the preservation of nature in accordance with the international standards, and in accordance with our attempts to integrate with the European union.
Delegation of experts has given suggestions, visited the sites and had meetings with the authorities in NP “Durmitor”, PE “National parks of Montenegro”, and the Municipality of Zablja, as well as with the representatives of the NGO “Most” (Bridge) and local citizens.
Representative of the mission Martin Scholar said that in the future they have planned to expand the network and to include Podgore near Zabljak, the first eco village in Montenegro in the international network. He pointed out that the report of the mission will be ready until July 1st.
We have come here to show that with the change of the Master plan of Montenegro great possibilities are being opened, because the Law on national parks is also being changed, so the regime of the protection will be more transparent, which is a condition for Montenegro to start moving towards Europe in this segment too.
It should be stated clear what are the tasks of the management of the National park and that even closer cooperation with the local citizenship is necessary. We have noticed that the personnel in NP “Durmitor” is concentrated in the central in Podgorica and that the closer cooperation with the citizens is missing – said Scholar.
Coordinator of the project of eco village Duska Dinovic said that the idea that each NGO which is included in the network of the eco village should be a partner in various activities of development.
– During this summer we will offer to local citizens a questioner in order for us to see their interest in getting involved in this – said Dimovic.
