Podgorica – Leaders of independents and unionists seem to be devoted to relatively positive and peaceful duration of referendum campaign keep to the end, if it be so, world will know to praise it, said Chief of monitoring mission ODIHR at Podgorica Jorgen Grunet.
“Leaders confirmed their devotion that referendum goes well. I am sure that if it continues during all its process, including polling day and process of counting of votes that will be good development of events for Montenegro, no matter of its outcome”, said Grunet to “Vijesti”.
Grunet estimated that last days constructive campaign to which contributed arrangement at RRK on comparing of data from Ministry of Interior with list of water, disturbed a few incidents of which “most make those produced not only by political idealism but perhaps alcohol”. “These are of course events to be sorry for but we do not have impression that they are planned or like, but that they happened accidentally”, said Grunet.
He said that both campaigns had pretty professional videos in their “visible” part after starting of phase “from door to door”, stressing that he is impressed with audience of TV debates on all TV stations. The Danish politician does not consider that exchange of harsh words among political leaders influenced a lot on position of voters.
“My impression is that in Montenegro politics is regarded as a bit relaxed way. Tone among leading politicians is still hard, harsh as in previous campaigns, they still “love” each other. Of course, Montenegrins are used to that so there are no importance in campaign. Anyway in other countries tone is usually a bit more relaxed”, said Grunet.
Mission will its preliminary estimation of referendum process give on Monday in early afternoon at press conference at hotel “Crna Gora”, and final report usually follows after six weeks. ODIHR in their two preliminary reports mainly estimated positive duration of campaign.
