Budva – Montenegro this summer will accommodate 1, 1 million of tourists, which is 11% more than last year, and it will earn the record 350 millions of euros, which is 1/5 more than in the year 2006 – it was announced yesterday on a joined press conference of the Ministry of tourism and National tourist organization on the occasion of the opening of the 16th International tourism market – METUBES 2007, on Budva Adriatic fair.
With the expectation of the successful summer season, as it could be heard, still, the main goal is positioning of Montenegro as a high quality tourist destination.
Pointing out that the previous 2006 year was the best tourist season in the past decade and a half, minister of tourism, Predrag Nenzic said that 90% of all activities which were issued by the Action plan of Government were carried out.
The traffic arteries in Montenegro have never been in better shape, but that is still not enough. In the traffic network until the beginning of the season there will be 15 millions of euros invested, and in the improvement of the water supply 2 millions. The realization of the project for treatment of waste water which is 6 millions worth is in progress, and since the adopting of the master plan we have invested more than 2 millions of euros. Until now more than two millions of euros were invested as far as we are talking about the treatment of the hard waste material, and at least 5, 6 millions of euros are meant for that. 13 new hotels were categorized, of totally 230 categorized ones, that is 14.000 rooms, 1.500 suites or totally 35.000 beds in that type of accommodation. 17 tourist organizations were founded. Our 15 beaches are the bearers of “blue flag”, and 10 of them are new candidates for this year – said minister Nenezic and added that in private accommodation there are 42.000 of registered beds.
He invited all guests who are coming to Montenegro to exclusively use the registered accommodation.
– I expect that this year there will be another 7 to 8 thousands of new beds in private accommodation – said Nenezic.
He pointed out that Montenegrin tourist association, which gathers the hotel but also the private accommodation, has informed him that they will not increase the prices for this season, except in those facilities which have raised the level of quality.
Reminding that during the year 2006 they have had a profit of 322 millions of euros, and that last year Montenegro was visited by 952.000 tourists, who has 6 millions of overnight stays, the director of tourist organization Sasa Radovic said that the booking capacities for Montenegro, at the moment are, 150 times bigger than in the same period last year.
With the opening of the International tourist market and tourism fair – METUBES 2007 in Budva, yesterday officially started this year’s summer tourist season.
In five halls of the “Adriatic fair” more than 180 exhibitors from Montenegro, Serbia, Albania, BiH, Italy, and Croatia presented themselves.
Director of the “Adriatic fair” Rajko Bujkovic said that this year’s market represents one of the most successful ones in the past 16 years.
A GOOD VISIT FROM SERBIA TOO
Minister Nenezic emphasized that this year too he is expecting a good visit from the Serbian market.
– From the expected 1, 1 millions of guests, from the Serbian market this summer at least 550.000 guests should come. That is at the level of last year, and I think that in 2006 we have had great results, when we are talking about the market from Serbia. The guests were satisfied and there are no reasons that that result is not achieved this year too – said Nenezic, announcing the intensive and well-thought campaign of NTO on the markets of Serbia, BiH, Macedonia, and Croatia.
