Tivat – Future Navigation museum which as a part of his exclusive navigation – tourist center “Porto Montenegro” in Tivat, in the place of Arsenal Canadian multi billionaire Peter Munk will built, will have a segment which will be dedicated to the history of Navy of Montenegro. One of the key exhibits of that segment of the future Navigation museum will be one of the small submarines NM class “Una P-911” – it was confirmed for “Vijesti” in the Ministry of defense of Montenegro. One small submarine and several smaller older vessels of NM, together with some technical machines and devices will be the base of museum collection about the newer history of navy in these areas, but also a certain reminder on the tradition of war shipbuilding in Tivat, which is more than 120 years old.
NM has totally 5 small submarines type “P – 911” which were built in a seria of six boats from 1985 to 1988 in Split for former Navy of SFRJ. As in the case of three big diesel electric submarine type “Heroj P – 821”, and “Sava P – 831”, and this small one the so-called “Pocket” submarine of 19 meters of length and displacement of 88 tones, have been withdrawn from operative use of Navy of Montenegro last year, because in Podgorica it was decided that our navy will not have offensive war ships such as submarines. Therefore all submarines except one type “P – 911” at the end of April were offered for sale to interested parties on a “confidential open competition” of the Ministry of defense, and which is being closed today.
“If two big submarines P – 821, and P – 832, as well as the small one P – 915, which are out of the se on the operative shore of the Arsenal dismantled in order to be repaired, are not sold on this open competition, it is almost certain that they will have to be cut in old iron. Small submarines P – 911, and P – 912 which have also been pulled out on the shore will be conserved, and as a final solution they will be removed and transferred in Kumbor – said the collocutor if “Vijesti” from the Ministry of defense adding that they are working intensively on putting into function the big 100 tones sailing crane LDI – 18 which will be used to lift up and transport those small submarines to Kumbor.
Even though Montenegro should give Arsenal to new owner Peter Munk until the end of June, and one of the agreed terms was the dislocation of the ships of the Navy of Montenegro from Tivat to Bat, it is uncertain whether all ships of the Navy of Montenegro as well as vessels which are not in operative use, and have still not been sold, will manage to leave Arsenal until that date and be transferred in Bar Harbor.
“As for that issue we have a really good relationship with the new owner of the Arsenal who is ready for an agreement about the dynamics of movement of the ships of NM” – said the collocutor of “Vijesti” from the Ministry of defense adding that it is certain that one ship of the Navy of Montenegro will stay in Tivat.
It is a school ship, attractive old sailboat “Jadran” which in the future will have its mother harbor in Tivat where for the first time it came in 1933. Munkís Montenegrin firm “Adriatic Marinas” which is carrying out the project “Porto Montenegro” has promised that “Jadran” will permanently be ties up in the new exclusive marina for mega yachts in Tivat where that beautiful old-timer and veteran of all seas will keep company to ultramodern and expensive sailing beauties – yachts which are owned by jet-set.
