Cetinje – According to the official estimates about 200.000 daily guests will visit Cetinje, which, claims minister of tourism Predrag Nenezic, speaks about how attractive the capital is in the aspect of tourism. The excursionists have started to come to Cetinje this year already in April, because of the untypical nice weather for that time of the year. During that month museum institutions have noted visits of guests for 70% more than it was the case last year. Officially the season in the town under Lovcen, in the past years begun on May 1st, and lasted until October 1st. last weekend Square of King Nikola was full of Austrians, Russians, Swedes… According to the words of the custodian of Cetinje museums very frequent guests are French, Italians, and Czechs too.
– The number of tourists who visit the museum our service of marketing notes every day and from day to day it is growing. 400 to 500 guests averagely visit the castle of King Nikola, and weekly there are 20 to 30 buses that come to Cetinje with tourists – says those employed in the Castle. As “Vijesti” were told so far those were only organized groups of guests, while the bigger number of individual visits is expected in this and during the following months when the number of guests will get bigger on the coast.
Tourists who come to Cetinje have at their disposal 5 museums (Castle of King Nikola, Njegos’ museum “Billiard pool hall” and Relief of Montenegro, Historical, Ethnographic and Artistic museum with the Holy Mother of God of Philermosa), as well as the rich treasury of Cetinje monastery. Though guests can buy “connective” ticket for all museums, which costs just 7 euros, those who visit everything that Cetinje has to offer are very rare. The prices of individual tickets for museums are three euros, that is 5 for the Castle of King Nikola and one euro for the relief. The pupils pay the “connective” ticket 3, 5 euros.
As the guides of the museum say, Russians are most often visiting Artistic museum in order to see Holy Mother of God of Philermosa and Cetinje monastery because of the hand of Jovan the Baptizer and the fragments of the Honorable Cross. Other guests most often visit the Castle of King Nikola. Museum workers also expect that students’ excursions, especially from Montenegro and Serbia, should contribute to increase of guests.
– It happens that when students enter in the Historical museum they can’t believe what they can see there. It is interesting to say that 90% of them did not know that something like that exists on Cetinje, and those are all things that they study in schools – said a custodian in a Historical museum.
Even though tourists are more and more coming to Cetinje, there still don’t exist adequate (not event the basic) conditions for real tourist offer. For all of them it is still a real enigma where is the center of the town, which museum is where, and let alone how to reach Lovcen.
Mayor of Cetinje Milovan Jankovic and minister of tourism Predrag Nenezic have recently announced that the ”project of tourist signalization of the town is almost finished and that it will be officially over at the beginning of July”. According to the opinion of both tourist workers and citizens the placement of the signalization would be at least one step forwards towards the better tourist offer of Cetinje.
In the meantime, until the promises are fulfilled, Montenegrin capital will have to receive tourists with what it has. And the number of predicted 200.000 guests for Montenegro is not so small.
OLD TIMERS ON THE SQUARE OF KING NIKOLA
Special attraction during this weekend on Cetinje, for both tourists and local people was the “round” of about 30 old timers. The column made of sports cars, pre-war limousines, up to old trucks went over Cetinje promenade and then parked on the square of King Nikola. The cars stayed for about an hour on Cetinje, just enough for the funs of old timers to make a collection of pictures for their album.
