Pljevlja – The reparation of the Husein – pasha mosque in Pljevlja, which is around 450 years old, after more than 5 months of work could soon be finished.
The amount of money spent is 256.475 euros, and the money was provided by coal mine Plevlja. The contract about the reparation of the mosque was signed at the end of March with the Sarajevo enterprise “Sikra” when it was announced that the labor will be finished in 5 months.
The mosque will be repaired from roof to the ground, as well as the minaret, which was in a really bad shape.
The basis of the mosque is strengthen, a protection from the breech of the underground and atmosphere water was made, the walls were strengthen in three levels with carbon bands. At the moment it is being worked on the reparation of the minaret, which with the height of 42 meters, is considered to be the highest minaret on the Balkans. The mosque will be covered with a new copper covering.
Husein – pasha’s mosque is one of the most beautiful monuments of the Islamic architecture on the Balkans. It was built in 1569.
The mosque is a legacy of Husein – pasha Boljevic, originally from these areas, and it is assumed that the mosque is a work of a bricklayer Hajrudin, who projected also the Old Mosta Bridge.
