Kotor – For the first six months Kotor was visited by 10.794 guests who had 40.742 overnight stays, which is 21% more compared to the previous year, as well as 18% more overnight stays – it was said in the tourist organization of Kotor.
According to last data of TO, there are 1.977 guests in the ancient town, of which 35 guests are domestic and 1.942 are foreigners.
Even though Kotor this year was handicapped because of the lack of hotel accommodation and because of the fact that it has no bigger beaches what is characteristic of the ancient town is the excursion tourism. Foreign tourists find the ancient town interesting above all because of the rich cultural – historical heritage, as well as because of the already in the world well-known traditional Kotor events.
As for the excursion trips at the moment they have a decrease of number of tourists.
– During the main season, as usual, in July and August, that number is dropping, so now on a daily basis we have about 10 buses, while in September and in October that number will once again fluctuate between 15 and 20 buses. They have mini Montenegro tours organized for them which include the visit of monuments of Kotor, Budva, Cetinje, and Njegusi, as well as tours towards Skadar lake and round of Boka bay with a boat – said Vukadinovic. One of the attractions for tourists is the visit of city bulwarks, and since the beginning of May 8.000 tourists have visited Kotor bulwarks.
Significant number of tourists comes to Kotor with big passengers ships of renowned world companies, which more and more often list Kotor as a destination in their cruising over the Mediterranean. This year in this segment Kotor has noted a growth of the arrival of passengers ships of 30%.
According to the records of TO 27 ships with 7.700 passengers and 63 super luxurious yachts with 700 passengers docked into Kotor harbor.
Vukadinovic says that they are satisfied with the effect of the action “Register your accommodation” and with publication of the catalogue of accommodation.
– Citizens are showing interest and every day we get new requests for registration of accommodation. So far we have issued 84 permits about the registration of private accommodation (for 624 beds) – said Vukadinovic.
