CETINJE`S BIENNIAL – it is a very significant fine art manifestation, for Cetinje as well as for Montenegro in general. The initiator of that really ambitious project is Princ Nikola Petrovic – Njegos, the great grandson of the Montenegrin King Nikola. The beginning of that biennial is tied to the October 1990, when in Cetinje the first international inspection of fine art creators was organizes for the first time under the name of “Cetinje`s biennial”. Still, that prestigious manifestation had and achieved pretensions, and it soon becomes an International biennial of the contemporary fine arts. The first formal opening was held on the 8th of June 1991. On that occasion on Biennial the exhibitions of famous and distinguished Yugoslavian and European fine art creator were presented, and also in the area of animation and other kinds of arts. The special novelties were artistic performances. This prestigious manifestation with all the above mentioned and additional contents is held in Cetinje every second year. Artists, creators, critiques, modelers from all over the world gather in Cetinje to enjoy in the beauties of this town, to present their works, and often to organize by themselves various fine art and art work shops in which new works come out. Cetinje and the artistic audience in Cetinje, for the period of holding of Biennial is numerous, and with its activities and originalities, Biennial has very good critiques and echo not only In Montenegrin but also in the foreign public.
For the period of duration of this very important cultural manifestation, to this prestigious event, except the participants, lovers of art and numerous guests, we can also see numerous citizens of Cetinje and other towns of Montenegro.
