Kotor – Yesterday in Podgorica delegation of Kotor along with the representatives of Ministry of finances revised the possibility to approve to the ancient town the charging of the excursionist compensation.
The decision about the charging of that compensation, which would be 50 cents per tourist, Kotor Parliament brought in November 2005. However, the authoritative state services still haven’t given the approval on that decision. In the ministry of finances, says the director if the local tourist organization, Zoran Zivkovic, they have “shown the understanding for the need of Kotor for introducing of charging of tourist compensation”, but the problem, he adds, are legal – technical confusions.
We have various interpretations of that decision and doubts about the possibilities to approve the charging. However, it is agreed that on the level of the municipality and the authoritative ministry of tourism a meeting should be held as soon as possible. I hope that we will still find some solution and that we will be approved to change the decision of Kotor parliament – said Zivkovic.
Pointing out that the town has the right on that kind of income; Zivkovic reminded that the municipality of Cetinje has made the same decision. Kotor in excursion tours, he adds, is visited by at least 300.000 tourists, and the “town doesn’t get anything on basis of that”.
According to the parliament decision, the obligation of charging of the tourist compensation would have the tourist agencies, which are the organizers of excursion tours in Kotor.
