Podgorica – Montenegro and Serbia have taken up the 61st position in the list of competition in the sector of tourism and traveling which for the first time this year prepared the World economic forum from Geneva, and which includes 124 states. The table shows the attractiveness of the countries according to the conditions for development of the sector for traveling and tourism.
Among the countries of the former SFRJ better positioned are Croatia in the 38th place and Slovenia in 44th place, and worse positioned are Macedonia in 83rd place, and Bosnia and Herzegovina in 104th place. Neighboring Albania is in 90th place.
In the reports there are no data especially about Montenegro, but they are all given together with the indicators, which relate to Serbia.
Extra points were given to Serbia and Montenegro the liberal visa regimes, that is, the fact that they do not ask for visa for tourists, then a good treatment to tourists, the inexistence of malaria and yellow fever, the availability of phone lines, the number of rent-a-car agencies, and relatively low danger from terrorist attacks. Also, relatively high positioned is the number of places of cultural inheritance, as well as the level of pollution with carbon dioxide.
On the other hand, the points were taken because of the disregard for ecosystem, regulation in the area of protection of environment, the range of the training of personnel, the condition of the harbor and traveling infrastructure, international transport networks and quality of airports.
On the top of the list of the World economic forum is Switzerland, and then come Austria, Germany, Island, USA etc.
– The study is not a beauty competition or the mark of attractiveness of the country. On the contrary, our goal is to measure the factors which make them attractive for the development of the sector of tourism and traveling in certain countries – said the higher economist Jennifer Blanke.
