Bar – Local administrations of Bar and the Italian town Lecce will build a protocol about cooperation, which is most certain in the filed of culture, mainly in the revitalization of the Old town under Rumija – it was agreed yesterday by the mayors Zarko Pavicevic and Adriana Poli -Botone. Delegation of Lecce yesterday in the end of their stay in Montenegro visited Bar municipality, harbor and the Old town.
The Mayor of Lecce at the same time the representative in the European parliament, said to people from Bar that the culture is the closest bridge of cooperation and suggested to them to use the funds of EU for reviving of the Old town.
– We have renewed and revived our Old town and brought back the old crafts in it. Now we have there 52 craft shops, which attract numerous tourists. You need a professional training of people for those kind of crafts, which in Montenegro, as in Italy, were abandoned – said Poli – Botone.
The way to achieve that plan, she added, goes through the precise plan if financing, establishment of ownership and plan of the Montenegrin Government. She stressed that an Italian – Montenegrin project group for that project needs to be formed.
Suggesting the exchanges of the exhibitions and folklore ensembles the mayor of Lecce offered the ambience of the former “old and beautiful monastery” for presentation of Bar artists.
Stating that the stated experiences are very useful, Zarko Pavicevic said that in Bar they have been thinking about bringing back the life in the Old town and renewal of the old crafts, with which the current number of visitors of about 60.000 would be rapidly increased on at least 100.000 guests per year.
He accepted the idea from Lecce to make the joined agency which should start working immediately.
Pavicevic invited guests from Italy to send their artists on a this year’s Bar chronicle and that their investors should invest in 6 tourist places of the town under Rumija.

CHARGE THE DEBTS
European Union is, says Poli Botone, very interested for the efficiency of the public administration, “especially for the cadastre and taxes”.
– In Lecce, which ahs 90.000 citizens, they conducted a project o charging of taxes from those who have been avoiding that earlier. From, until now irregular tax payers, we have taken 14 millions of euros in a year – she said.
EUROPEAN FUNDS IN MONTENEGRO
– In Montenegro you need to develop cultural and religious tourism. Your monasteries are very interesting. I am a great enthusiast for this kind of interventions. As a president of the Agency for investments in culture, for European parliament I am exploring the possibilities of usage of European funds in Montenegro. We should start together, chose people, and make a joined group for local development. That would be the first experience of that kind in Montenegro for both sides – said the president of Lecce.
