Canyon of Susica/Durmitor – “This will be a good season only when the rain stops” said Dragan Jokanovic while he was preparing the facilities on the south, Piva side of Durmitor.
Titan, grew up below Milogora, the only Montenegrin rainforest, five years ago decided to stay in his native Trsa and to build eco – summer cottage houses. Until last summer only rare bicycle riders and mountaineers came, mostly Czechs looking for a free of charge sleeping place. Now there is a summer pasture cottage “Milogora” with six two-bedded bungalows, five horses for riding, restaurant with 70 chairs on whose menu you can find solely domestic food. Jokanovic, whose family for centuries is in the business of cattle breeding and agriculture, from last summer is welcoming numerous tourists.
Majority of guests are those who are traveling from Durmitor towards the sea, and they want to go over Sedlo and Lokvice. Now from Pluzine ato Zabljak, over Pisc only 9 km of asphalt lacks which for many tourists is decisive for their choice to go beside Prutas – says Jokanovic.
From this summer we have excursionists from photo safari tours on Durmitor “ ring” who come through Mala Crna Gora (Small Montenegro), and Nedajno. Between those two most distant Durmitor villages, in the picturesque canyon of Susica, which is called the heart of the “wild beauty” by many, Jokanovic ten days ago, after renting it from National Park, has opened a motel. A facility of mountain type, with spacious restaurant and four two –bedded rooms, for along time is a favoroite gathering point off hunters and mountaineers who are coming from the direction of Skrska lakes.
“Facilities in Susica and on Trsa are located in mid way of the road of photo safari, where a break is being made for lunch. Along the canyon of Susica we are also organizing walking tours along the waterfall Skakala all the way to Skrka” said Jokanovic.
Tourist offer of the south side of Durmitor since recently is richer because of the fact that they are organizing photo safari.
“Down the comfortable terrains from Pluzina or Niksic we are driving towards Trsa, where a breakfast is planned for tourists. We continue to Pisce, Lokvice, Todorov do, Prutas, Dobri do, Virak, and Zabljak, and then on Stuoc, Mala Crna Gora, Susica, Nedajno, and back on Trsa. The tour which is about t85 km long lasts from 5 to 6 hours but everything depends on tourists who when they want can stop somewhere to have some rest, to walk and to take pictures of natural beauties of Durmitor. Macadam is only found in sections near Dobri do, and in the canyon of Susica” – explained Jokanovic.
