Herceg Novi – Minister of tourism and protection of environment Predrag Nenezic has to make up his mind whether he is pro or against the silos – said Milos Radulovic from the NGO “The Movement of the Youth of Zelenika” on a yesterday’s protest in front of the Zelenika Harbor, which was attended by several hundreds of local people, but also inhabitants of other Herceg Novi lodgments.
They are against the construction of silos for the reloading of 200.000 tones of cement per year, because they think that they are damaging and that they are jeopardizing the development of tourism. From the protest they said that the local authority and people from Zelenika will be unique and that they will be persistent in their decision to stop the construction of silos.
On the other hand, the investor – company “Eurocem” claims that they will not give up on their intention.
“The Movement of the Youth of Zelenika” is asking for the irregular session of the Municipal parliament to be organized on which they would consider the problem with the silos, but they also want a local referendum to be announced, on which the local people would make a decision about the construction of that terminal.
Radovic “thanked” in the name of the citizens to the Government of Montenegro and the resource ministries because, as he says, “they haven’t done anything on the occasion of the construction of the silos”.
People from Zelenika and the local administration will, he added, still continue to address to the institutions in Podgorica.
The doctor Perisa Ceranic said that “Eurocem” is planning to install in the silos regular bars – filters, which can not hold even the smallest particles of the cement dust “very damaging for the respiratory organs”.
According to his assertion, “the silos are the problem of Boka too because those smallest particles are dispersing in the distance of 50km”.
– The saddest thing is that the Italians will take 51% of the profit, which will be taking its place over the back of local people. American experts have confirmed that the filters for which “Eurocem” is not giving the attest, are just rough filters – claims Branko Djuric from the Crisis head offices from Zelenika.
Historian of arts Lazar Seferovic called Johan Engel, who made the actual Master plan for the development of tourism, to come to Zelenika and confirm whether the silos are in accordance with that document.
MANDIC: THE SHORE DOESN’T NEED THIS MONSTER
– If the facts win, we will not have this “monster” on the shore – said the mayor Dejan Mandic at the protest.
Even though from Eurocem they were told that in the harbor they are just arranging the terrain, Mandic said that those are in fact the works, preparations for the foundations of the silos.
The first man of Herceg Novi stated that the permits which the investor got for the installation of the silos have some “legal shortages”.
– We will use the maximum support of the NGO’S and the possibilities which gives the change of the Master plan of tourism, and which is in progress – said Mandic.
EUROCEM: IT IS THE DECISION OF THE STATE
-We have all the necessary permits for installation of the silos. The gathering of the citizens legally doesn’t mean anything, as well as the referendum. That would be declaration on the level of the Municipality, and the Republic is responsible for the silos – said the investor Obrad Mandic half an hour before the protest of the local people. Mandic said that “Eurocem” suffered the damage of 50.000€ because the works did not start three years ago, so because of that the terrain has to be renewed.
The renewal, he added, will last for at least two weeks, after which they will need to do the preparations and another three months for the installation of the silos.
– Even if I was the citizen of Zelenika, I would have the same attitude towards the silos – responded Obrad Mandic on the question of “Vijesti”.
However he added that no one from the management lives in Zelenika. Mandic said that for the support of the construction of silos he can gather 100 to 15 NGO’S.
