Tivat – Mayor of Tivat Dragan Kankaras and the representatives of the new Tivat firm “Adriatic Marinas” have presented yesterday a range of projects which on the occasion of carrying out of the project of turning of Tivat Arsenal in the exclusive navigation – tourist center and a marina for mega yachts will be carried out by the owner of “Adriatic Marinas”, Canadian billionaire Peter Munk.
First of those projects is the contract about the sponsorship of the football club Arsenal which was yesterday signed by the Municipality of Tivat,, the club and the “Adriatic Marinas”.
– The representative of the “Adriatic Marinas” Oliver Korlet said that with this sponsorship football club Arsenal will be able to have a significant role on Montenegrin football scene.
– It won’t be long when the big London Arsenal will be worried because of the strength of the same named club from Tivat – said Korlet. The fund of Peter Munk these days will sign up the announcement for scholarships of students from Tivat and Kotor. The amount of the year scholarship is 1.000 euros, and the scholarship can be extended depending on the results.
– With carrying out of the project “Porto Montenegro” huge demand for qualified working force, especially tourist workers will be created and we are glad that in this way we can contribute the improvement of the abilities of the local citizens – pointed out Korlet.
The firm of the Canadian businessmen as a donation to other town of Tivat in cooperation with USAID will carry out also the project of covering of the entire Tivat municipality with the signal for wireless internet through six base stations. Munk’s centers for international studies at the University in Toronto, will organize in Tivat from 26th of May until the 2nd of June a workshop for 25 Montenegrin and Canadian students of economics and political sciences. The topics of the gathering are regional integrations, European union, and west Balkans, media, and civil society, and creation of the multi ethnic society.
According to the unofficial information Munk’s company will take over the Arsenal formally from Montenegrin Government at the end of June, because of the slowness of Montenegrin state in fulfillments of its obligations that didn’t happen in the first term which was arranged, 28th of April. In the meantime, the things have been significantly sped up, especially after the recent meeting of Munk and the Prime Minister Zeljko Sturanovic, so the “Adriatic “Marinas” will formally take over the Arsenal on the 30th of June, even though it was expected that the new owner will be able to do that only in the fall.
