Plav – Three day international scientific gathering under the title “Natural and social values of eco system of Dinarids”, which in previous few days was organized in Berane and Andrijevica was terminated yesterday in Plav.
In the center for culture Plav a round table was held whose topic was “Prokletije – a new national park”.
– This year we have finished the Study about justification of proclamation of Prokletije for a fifth national park in Montenegro, which has been submitted to the Ministry of tourism and protection of environment, and we hope that soon a law about the inscription of this area in the list of national parks would be passed soon – said Bulic.
Based on this Study the protected area will include the surface of about 21.000 ha, which represents a half of the surface of NP “Skadar Lake” or 60% of the NP “Durmitor”. Inside it Hrid Lake with the surrounding, and the mountains Volusnica and Visitor will be found as reservations.
President of the Organizational board of the scientific gathering professor Sulejman Redzic from Sarajevo said that he is convinced that the results of this gathering will significantly contribute the affirmation of natural and social values of eco system of this part of Dinarids.
– The researches have shown that in this part of Dinarids most powerful centers of development of flora and fauna are found, as well as the range of uniqueness of plant and animal world, which is a certain reference for Montenegro which in terms of this can be considered unique and some kind of an endemic territory compared to entire Europe – said Redzic.
The president of the municipality Skender Srakinovic pointed out that this gathering additionally bounds neighboring and friendly municipalities Plav, Andrijevica, and Berane to work together in carrying out of future projects.
International gathering is dedicated to life and work of professor Radomir Lakusic, doyenne of botanic science and ecology who more than 30 years has been studying flora and fauna of Prokletije, and who has published numerous scientific works from that area. Professor Marko Knezevic spoke about him and about his work.
In the center for culture on this occasion an exhibition of photographs of natural beauties of Prokletije by the author Ahmet Rekovic was opened.
After the round table, they have organized a visit to the Botanic garden “Velemun” the ownership of family Prascevic in Brezojevik, as well as the tour of the valleies Grebaje, Ropojan, and Ali – pasha’s wells.
The organizers of scientific gathering were the Government of Montenegro, Bureau for protection of nature of Montenegro, Eco BiH – Association for protection of environment BiH in cooperation with the Municipalities of Plav, Andrijevica, and Berane.
