Berlin – That Montenegro represents one of the at the moment most interesting destinations in the Mediterranean for investment in hotel tourism was confirmed at the leading international hotel investment forum “International Hotel Investment Forum” – IHIF, which s being held in the elite Berlin hotel “Intercontinental”.
At the forum, which gathers most powerful world investment groups and Hotel Corporation, Montenegro for the first time had the individual performance, and on the special stand they have presented investment potentials, of coast and north part of Montenegro, as well as of the capital city.
According to the words of the minister of tourism and protection of environment Predrag Nenezic there is a great interest for investment in Montenegro.
– The things have changed significantly and Montenegro has become a very interesting destination on the international plan. What is now our position is that we are choosing the investors, that is why we are at this forum for the first time. It is the biggest European conference for investment in hotels. We have with us the representatives of the private sector, because we simply want to make contacts with those investors who are the best and who fit in our strategy of development of tourism, and those are the companies who pay a lot of attention of the quality and sustainability of their product. In Berlin we have made good contacts – said Nenezic for “Vijesti” after the forum.
He added that Montenegro can offer a certain number of new projects, and those are green field investments which will be carried out both on the coast and on north of Montenegro.
– We are talking about extremely attractive areas, and there are very few of that kind of localities in the Mediterranean and in the whole world. I think that we have a chance to develop Montenegro as a tourist destination in the way that we have imagined that to happen. We must not build too much, the space has to be preserved as much as possible, and those locations which we have reserved for tourist construction we should develop with those companies which pay a lot of attention on quality and sustainable development – pointed out Nenezic.
Montenegrin delegation which is led by Nenezic, and whose part was also the adviser of prime minister for economic issues Vojin Vlahovic, had a meeting with the head representatives of numerous investments groups.
One of the most significant meetings Nenezic had with the president of Starwood capital group” Barry Sternliht, otherwise the investment corporation which governs the leading world chain of hotels “Ritz Carlton”, “Sheraton”, Four Seasons”, and “Meridian” Starwood is one of the strongest investment groups in the world, and the value of the entire corporation is estimated to be more than 30 billions of euros.
IN BERLIN MORE THAN 10.000 EXHIBITORS
Montenegrin tourist business was promoted this year too on the leading world tourist market – ITB 2007 that was opened yesterday formally on the great Berlin fair. At the so far best arranged stand for the past 11 years since Montenegro started presenting itself individually in German capital, National tourist organization with its strategic partners has presented the entire offer for the upcoming season.
That there is a great interest for Montenegro confirms the first day of the fair, during which the representatives of our business had numerous meetings with their German colleagues. The visitors of the fair had the opportunity to convince themselves in the new quality of Montenegrin offer, and NTO, local tourist organizations, and hoteliers have offered a good promotional material for German market. This year’s fair manifestation, 41 in a row, has gathered more than 10.000 exhibitors, of which 2/3 are from abroad, on about 150.000 square meters. This year in Berlin there are 180 countries present, and more than 7.000 journalists attend the fair.
German tourists traditionally were the most numerous guests for decades back. According to statistical data during the past year 20.088 German tourists visited Montenegro, and had 142.100 overnight stays, which represents the participation of 6,5% in the total structure of overnight stays of the foreign tourist turnover. The records show that German tourist are on the 6th place per participation in the total foreign turnover in the year 2006, after Serbia, Russia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania and Czech Republic. Tourist offer of Montenegro in their programs this year offered leading German tour operators and agencies Neckerman, ITS, TUI, LTU – Luftransport.
FOR MONTENEGRO WE ARE LOOKING FOR A STRONG PARTNER
Concrete discussion at the forum had also the owner of company “Normal tours” Zarko Buric, who in Berlin, most off all, came in order to find a potential partner for reconstruction or management of Hotel “Crna Gora” (MONTENEGRO).
Podgorica company, otherwise in its property beside “Crna Gora” has also Hotels “Podgorica” and “Ljubovic”.
– We have come to this investment forum mostly because here are present all bran chains of hotels. We have the intention to soon start the reconstruction and renewal of Hotel “Crna Gora”, and that is why we are ready to enter in some partnership relation with some of the chain of hotels or to maybe leave them the management of the hotel.
We have talked with “Starwood”, “Meriot”, “Hilton”. Those were just talks, what will happen next we will see. For Hotel “Ljubovic” I don’t have the intention to seek for a partner, because our interest at the moment is Hotel “Crna Gora”.
