Tivat – Mayor Dragan Kankaras promised a full support of the local administration to the activities for widening of the capacities of Tivat airport in order for it to be ready to adequately respond to the needs of the development of tourism in Montenegro.
Dragan Kankaras with the vice president of the Municipality, Krsto Boskovic, spoke yesterday with the director of the PE “Airports of Montenegro”, Milovan Djurickovic about the upcoming undergoes for the further improvement of the capacities of Tivat airport.
Djurickovic introduced the heads of the town with the so far done activities on the reconditioning of the airport Tivat for the night and flying in the conditions of reduced visibility, pointing out that AM have finished the project documentation and that they are waiting for the licenses from the authoritative state services in order to approach that investment.
– With that Tivat airport could additionally increase the volume of traffic – said Djurickovic adding that he introduced also the top of the Municipality with the project of widening of the airport platform with the construction of the additional parking positions for planes, as well as with the projecting of new parking space for cars and reconstruction of the cross road of the approaching was on the Adriatic highway.
– The cooperation is necessary there, because the significant part of the land, on which the works are planned, are the ownership of the Municipality – explained Djurickovic.
Emphasizing that with the hosts he agreed in the mark that the airport Tivat has a good perspective, he said that “the modules of cooperation between AM and Municipality have to be found, which will guarantee the development of the airport and which will be of use to both Municipality and the entire state”.
Airport Tivat, as the most circulated Montenegrin airport, last year had more than 451.000 passengers, and this year they are expecting the additional increase of 15%, and “breaking of the limit of half a million of passengers”.
