The tower no doubt is the oldest preserved edifice in Plav, and one of the most interesting monuments of defensive architecture in Montenegro, because of which it is protected by law.
According to some written sources the tower was built in 1671 by Hasan beg Redzepagic. However the legend says that it is much older and that it dates from XV century. According to the legend the tower was built by Ali Muce with his sons, who else is the descendant of Ali beg Redzepagic, in order for Plav to e defended from Bunjani (Clements).
The tower initially was built with two floors with thick walls, over one meter with watchtowers and gun holes and was covered with stone tiles. Later the third floor was built.
As a significant cultural and historical monument the tower is very attractive tourist site.
