Kotor – Also this summer unavoidable culture historic institution for numerous tourists was Maritime museum of Montenegro at Kotor. This important culture historic edifice located in palace Grgurina visited over 20 thousand people and he first organized group visited museum in January.
Director of museum Mileva Vujosevic said that they had contracts with over 20 agencies from Montenegro and Dubrovnik.
-Main visit was in summer period, starting from May. At our great pleasure from May up to date we had over 15% more foreign tourists. There were also domestic but in smaller number what is expected for people who once visited will not come other time. Second reason is that Kotor is transit town and tourists more go to destinations as Budva, Ulcinj and similar – said Vujosevic.
Museum is open all day round or until 23 hours in the evening. Entrance ticket is 80 cents while for children visit is free.
Vujosevic with her team decided that people with handicap enable so that they can see all that is in museum.
-We made in the hall of museum one department for handicap people who can not go to first and second floor. In that room decorated with models of ships, amphorae we put one large video beam. Where lasting for 40 minutes accompanied by baroque music we present all that is exhibited in our museum. So people who were unable before can see museum – said Vujosevic.
Although this is the first cultural institution in Montenegro and also in surrounding that opened one such department. Vujosevic announced that from next year will be introduced presentation in several foreign languages as well as system for the blind persons.
In the museum recently is made video surveillance and for now are covered two the most important departments – armory and ethnographic department.
Prize to Dr. Jovica Martinovic
Maritime museum is founded on September 10, 1952 and on the occasion of celebrating that date in September will be awarded the prize “Merito Navali” to Dr. Jovica Martinovic for full contribution to the museum. Up to now the prizes received Dr. Milos Milosevic and Antun Tomic.
-Besides on September 18, we will make homage to academic painter from Kotor Vasko Lipovac, whose masterpieces marvelous bronze plates that have their story on sea, people who sailed and culture monuments is at the entrance of the museum.
At the end of year we issue annual of museum that will be dedicated to recently died don Branko Sbutega – announce Vujosevic with message “that museum works as team, systematically and profound and as such good team always wins in any field”.
