Podgorica – “United World Colleges” are proposing that in 2008 Montenegro should be the host of the European regional meeting of that organization; it was announced yesterday from the National Committee of Montenegro for cooperation with this organization.
In the announcement it is stated that the chairman of the Montenegrin committee, Dervis Selhanovic, has taken participation in Madrid, on a seminar, whose host is the honorable president of the national committee of Spain, King Juan Carlos.
On a formal reception in the King’s residence Selhanovic presented Juan Carlos with the “The encyclopedia about Njegos”.
– What Servantes is for Spain, and all the Roman people and the world, that is Njegos for Montenegro, all the Slovenian people and the world in general” said Selhanovic, it is stated in the announcement.
The representatives of the committee of Montenegro have, as it was said, had important conversations with Tim Toyne, the new chairman of the Board of directors of all 12 colleges, with Keith Clarke, the executive director of the international service of this organization in London, and with the directors of colleges in Italy, Hong Kong, Costa Rica and Norway.
At the meeting we also talked with the colleges and with certain national committees about the enhancement of cooperation, new sources of financing scholarships and other activities were considered. The successful cooperation of the Committee of Montenegro with the Adriatic college in Duino which is being realized through scholarships and joined projects was pointed out.
The secretary of the Montenegrin Committee, Lidija Ercegovic, held a presentation about the seminars held in Montenegro on a topic “Ecology and resolving of conflicts”, as well as about the way of financing scholarships and selection of our students.
The part in the work at the meeting took 63 representatives of national committees from 30 European countries, directors of 12 existing colleges, as well as the representatives of the international service of this organization from London, which is coordinating the work of colleges and all national committees.
