Tivat – the citizens in Tivat lodgment Lepetane will ask with a petition from the authorities in charge to solve the problems of traffic jams, noise, and pollution of the sea because of the ferry, and there is a possibility that they will organize a protest and that they will block the ferry dock and highway if in the shortest possible period their demands are not fulfilled – it was concluded on a day before yesterday held gathering held by the citizens of Lepetane.
During the summer that small susburial place because of the huge jams on Adriatic highway which is crammed by vehicles which are waiting to embark on the ferry towards Kamenari is turning into hell for local people and for the tourists in Lepetane.
Because of the jams, as it could be heard on this gathering, local people from Lepetane were not able to reach the downtown, health institutions and supermarkets.
The same problem had the citizens of Stoliv who, else, have a hard time going through the crowd on the dock in Lepetane. The same problem has the citizens of Kamenari and Kostanjica on the other side of the bay. Local people from Lepetane are bitter, as they say, because of the “incompetence of Tivat police” to regulate the traffic, and provide them, to reach their houses apart from the columns waiting for the ferry without having to wait. Citizens have protested also because of the noise, which is made by the engines of the ferries and have asked that a silencer is mounted on each chimney of the ferry, as well as to stop ejecting the waste waters from the ferry into the sea. Individuals said that Lepetane doesn’t have any benefit from several decades of the work of the ferries, and that it only sees damage from that, because of which they need to insist to transfer the pier from that place to a new location on cape Opatovo.
– Believe me when I tell you that I am not looking forward to sit in the car and go to Tivat because I know that when I come back I will face hell and harassment. My nerves start shaking when I think of policemen who are supposedly regulating the traffic on the dock towards the pier. One of them, threatening that he will take my license away because I overtook the colon, which was not moving, trying to reach my house, told me “that’s the case when you live in Lepetane”. Here it looks like we are cattle and not citizens – said one of the local man Miho Ilic adding that he doesn’t wish to believe that the ones who are responsible for this in the Municipality of Tivat are “blind, deaf and ignorant, but that simply they do not want to deal with this problem of the citizens of Lepetane”.
– In record tourist years in 1988 and 1989 there were tourist traffic jams and in those years people from Lepetane didn’t have to wait to get through to their houses, even though at that time we had to illiterate police officers. What is now going on is a disaster – said the president of LP Danica Dosljak, while Karolina Vucinovic said that the head of the branch office of the police in Tivat Veselin Smolovic “obviously doesn’t want to do his work properly and to the end” because of which people from Lepetane should go to the head of the Center of safety of Herceg Novi Vojislav Dragovic, director of the Management of the police Veselin Vujovic, minister of internal affairs Jusuf Kalamperovic, and minister of traffic Andrija Lompar.
VUCINOVIC: WE ARE PRISONERS OF POMORSKI SAOBRACAJ
Zlatko Vucinovic said that people from Lepetane during the summer are practically prisoners of the enterprise “Pomorski saobracaj”.
– Zoran Vucinovic said that every summer he submits some 50 denouncements to the services in charge against Pomorski saobracaj because of the pollution of the sea, and that that doesn’t have any effect.
– The system function like that that the resistance of all citizens can only give any effect because then they will sense that we are united and that we want this issue solved once and for all – he said.
They have formed a work group which will introduce the demands of the local people to police, Pomorski saobracaj, Municipality of Tivat, as well as to Ministries in charge of this situation.
