Podgorica – Project “Coastal mountain transversal Orjen – Lovcen – Rumija”, as it was said on a yesterday’s presentation, will allow the opening of the new working places, easier getting to know of the natural beauties of Montenegro, and elongation of the tourist season in the south of Montenegro. The project promotes mountaineering as a healthy and entertaining was to research Montenegro.
As the chief of the mission of the American organization IRD in Montenegro, Robert Harris, said yesterday at the presentation, the realization of this project was enabled by USAID and IRD, who invested more than 45.000€, and the preparations have lasted for twelve months. Beside IRD the project was financed by the Mountaineering association of Montenegro, in cooperation with the local mountaineering clubs and NGO’S with 47.000€ as well as the Bureau for employment with 9.000€.
Project encompassed the construing, arrangement and marking of 138 km long walking paths along the transversal and about 150km of approaching paths.
The president of the Mountaineering association, Brano Perovic, explained that transversal goes through the massif of Orjen, above Boka Kotorska, over Lovcen, Pastrovacka gora (Pastrovici hill), Sozina, Sutorman to Rumija.
The line of the transversal, with 15 control points and three mountain peaks is completely and properly cleared up, marked and featured, and on this line marked paths that start on the coast of the sea, from Cetinje or Skadar Lake join on it – explained Perovic. He said that the paths are divided between the mountaineering clubs and NGO’S, which are obliged that with the support of Mountaineering Association of Montenegro maintain them clean and to regularly mark them.
A guide was also presented with a map, as well as the diary and a rule book about the mountaineering and paths for marking.
