Milocer – Montenegro almost doesn’t have a product, if we take out Vranac and Niksic beer, which is recognizable outside the borders. Those were the results of the mini – poll which “Vijesti” have done with the participants of the business investment summit in Hotel Maestral, in Milocer. The results however, should be taken with a reserve, because on the mentioned assembly which was organized by the European financial convention and Montenegrin Agency for the promotion of investments, there were very few foreigners, especially those who still haven’t accustomed to Montenegro.
The representative of the company Montidevelopment, Kristof Bekle, who comes from Austria, said for Vijesti, that he has been in Montenegro for already two months, and that he is familiar with the Montenegrin vine from the company “Plantaze”.
-I know for the vine cellar “Plantaze”, that is a big company. For tourism as well but that is not a product – said Bekle trying to remember some Montenegrin product, after his colleagues have elegantly refused to answer the question to “Vijesti” and transferred us to him.
In the search for other foreign collocutors, the reporters of “Vijesti” have come across the three representatives of the revising Pricewaterhouse Kuper”, from Bulgaria, Hungary and Australia.
Even though he is not for the first time in Montenegro, because his firm is a consultant in privatization, the Bulgarian, Bozidar Nicev, could not remember one single Montenegrin product apart from tourism. He rejected the remark that tourism is not a product, and he was asked to state several hotels or summer resorts that he is familiar with, and he stated Maestral, in which the summit was held and of course “Sveti Stefan”.
– Still, there are many things to be done in tourism – thinks Nicev.
-His colleague from Australia, Dragan Misic, told us that Niksic beer is a famous Montenegrin product.
‘I know about Niksic beer, but I haven’t tried it. That beer has been exporting for a long time, and I think that in Australia it was the only beer that came from Serbia and Montenegro – said Misic. After mentioning the name of Niksic brand, Nicev remembered and added that “it is a beer which would be rather chosen that any other beer that is manufactured in Serbia and Montenegro and for which beer lovers are getting attached.
For the Hungarian Robert Heredek, a recognizable Montenegrin product is Montenegrin wine.
– I am familiar with the wine Vranac, from “Plantaze” and the beer well, we have already mentioned it…
I can’t remember anything else. Your cheese is very good, also – said Heredek.
To that Misic only added the pride of Montenegrin business smoked ham from Njegusi. Unfortunately, the famous smoked ham from Njegusi is less and less Montenegrin, because mostly it is made of imported meat so it will not get the certificates of origin.
The fast growth of Montenegrin economy and stability are the qualities which have drawn his company to Montenegro, adds Bekle.
We were drawn by the political stability, because Montenegro is one of the countries in the Mediterranean in which we can invest securely – said Bekle.
That political stability and a positive relation of the international community to a new state in the world would have to be used by the Montenegrin manufacturers, Government and authority agencies if they wish to have a serious growth of economy and a transition to surrounding markets.
