Tivat – Proclamation of all workers technological extras, Navy Technical repair bureau “Sava Kovacevic” in Tivat has officially stopped working after 18 years.
With today’s taking over of the Arsenal by the new owner Adriatic marinas of the Canadian Peter Munk the activity from which this town used to live for more than a century are now history.
After 118 years the co-existence of Tivat and various militaries that is navies which came to Boka in the period from the end of XIX until the beginning of the XXI century came to an end.
With the beginning of the war in ex SFRJ and with the sanctions from which NTRB never recovered completely the end could be anticipated so the Government of Montenegro at the idea and the initiative of Peter Munk two years ago made a decision to turn Arsenal into a big marina for mega yachts and into an exclusive navigation tourist center. Final end came when 472 workers of Arsenal were formally left without a job, and today the complex of Tivat military shipbuilding yard is supposed to be taken over by its new owner – Adriatic marinas which will be using it in the next 90 years.
