Sutomore – All accommodation capacities of Sutomore and Canj are over loaded, so it is highly possible that this season will surpass the record 1998 and 2001 – the hoteliers all over LC Sutomore – Spic are unanimous.
Confirmations come from all around: beaches of Sutomore and Canj are crowded with swimmers who, as a local man said joking, are standing on one foot on the sand and in the water. To go through Sutomore with a car is a real epopee; communal infrastructure is facing a collapse. A bed in private accommodation above the railroad in Sutomore is already now 14 euros, and last year it was 4. The houses in the Hill are also full!
– No one in Sutomore was expecting this to happen. Prices of accommodation are rising, and wealthier guests also came here – Russians have bought houses here. We are 100% full until the end of August because of the popular prices of half boards, but also because of the fact that we have no problems with water because we have a reservoir with 100 cube liters of water. Miners from Kostolac and Obrenovac are already looking from 40 beds from 22nd of August – says Goran Pajkovic the owner of the hotel Lovcen which now has 150 guests, 95% of them are from Serbia.
Pointing out that Lovcen is already passé and that it is about to be sold Pajkovic announced the construction of a new hotel with 4 stars between the stream of Botun and Golo brdo.
Executive director of HTE Korali Svetlana Djakonovic points out that in hotel Korali there are 950 Russians, Czechs, and Slovaks who will be coming until the end of September according to fixed contracts, and we also have some individual guests. In Korali we have too many bookings. From January the 1st until today we had 33.000 overnight stays – says Djakonovic adding that the reconstruction of Korali is likely to happen after the season.
Tourist lodgment Biserna obala (Pearl coast) in Canj which is owned by Belgrade Rekreaturs has 95% of its capacities, of 2.000 beds, full. Preseason, as they say, was exquisite – 50.000 overnight stays in May and June, that is two and a half times more than in the year 2006, and in the season they expect that they will have totally 180.000 overnight stays, compared to last year’s 120.000.
– Serbs have decided to make Montenegro their main summer destination. It is very well known that the season in Bar begins the moment when Canj starts to be filled – says Miroslav Sofijanic director of Biserna obala which is prasied by the local administration because they have paid all taxes for the year 2006 plus 68.000 of euros on behalf of residential tax.
The owner of Inex Zlatna Obala (Inex Golden Shore) on the very coast of Ratac is also from Serbia. Two Belgrade firms already third year in a row have a court dispute about to whom hotel Inex Zlatna obala belongs to, but that doesn’t reflect the quality of service of its capacities. Of 800 guests obly 5 or 6 guests are from Montenegro.
We are selling 90 to 100 days and we will work until October 10th. Half board is 15, 5 euros and this is the cheapest accommodation in the Adriatic so close to the sea. I have to emphasize that few years ago thanks to minister Nenezic we got the status of leasers of passes for the beach because our beach has 1.400 square meters which is sufficient for 350 guests. In this way, beside the guests, we have 120 workers – girls, and we have given 150 passes in the lodgment Ivan Milutionovic and that means that we have over 1.000 people on our beach, and that is why our guests do not have a full comfort – says Ivo Kalostrovic director of this unique beach hotel with three stars.
Director of TO Bar Neda Ivanovic said that along with the hotel Adria in Susanj only hotels Lovcen and Inex Zlatna Obala pay in regularly, every 1st and 15th day in the month the residential tax. During the recent visit of these hotels president of the Municipality Zarko Pavicevic said that the choice for the visit was made exactly according to “ the very good payment of the obligations of these hotels to the state”. Mayor announced mild attitude of local administration towards such facilities and that those who operate their work in legitimate way will be stimulated, with which the grey economy and corruption will be decreased.

Even though it still hasn’t been officially opened after the reconstruction Princess, former Topolica in Bar, which now has 4 stars, has received its first guests on July 28th. Our hotel 13 July on Virpazar has great excursion tourism, and our out of board activities are much better. We are pleased that German TUI and ITS are interested in our capacities for the year 2008 – said Djakonovic.
