Niksic – Tourist manifestation Jeep Race “Montenegro trophy” will be held next weekend, and the organizers said that they are expecting 70 crews, with about 200 participants from 10 countries. The founder of the race Luka Maksimovic said that thanks to sponsors “Montena maks spedicija” from Herceg Novi, and EPCG (Electrical company of Montenegro) they have made a rich program for all three days, during which they will engage one of the best Serbia photographers Tomislav Paternek who during the race will have the exhibition of photographs.
A member of the Organization board Tane Minic said that gathering of the contestants would be held in Friday from 7 to 9 at the plateau in front of Niksic Super market. The track of the first racing day goes over Slano jezero (Salt Lake), on Brocanac, Ponikvice, Trubjela, Podbozur, Osjencica, Grahovac, Grahovo, then on Bijela gora, and back, and then on Krnja jela, Dvrsnik brdo, Metkova voda, and back towards Grahovo, and over Risan to Igalo. Minic said that it was predicted that they should cross 133 km for 5, 5 hours.
On the second day in Saturday, the drivers will go from Igalo on Pode, Sasovici, Lastva, Bunovici, Morinj, Risan, Metkova voda, Crkvice, Orjen sedlo, Nugline (Vrbalj), Krusevice, Kamenovo, and back to Igalo.
On the third day the drivers will drive on the polygon in Sutorina. Crews from Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia, Serbia, Italy, Sweden, Great Britain, Germany, have announced their participation, and of course majority of crews will be traditionally from Montenegro.
Member of the board Slavica Grgurevic said that jeep race which is held for eighth year in a row, has become a brand which promotes tourism, natural beauties, but also meeting, socializing, and making friendships among the contestants, as well as socializing of contestants with local people. The organizers said that the payment for participation per contestant is 90 euros, and it includes accommodation, and two overnight stays in hotel “Igalo”, and also that the drivers and their co-travelers will visit asphalt, and many macadam and old roads dating from Austro – Hungarian period. It has been announced that as well as in previous years medics, technicians and police will follow the expedition.
