Tivat – With the artistic night named “In the garden at the old Boka women” in Tvat begun this year’s gastronomic, tourist, and cultural manifestation “Zucenica fest”.
“Festival of good for all senses” as the organizers Radio Tivat and Organization of women call it they have prepared to numerous audience in the atrium of the complex of the medieval summer cottage house “Buca Lakovic” an exhibition of famous Dobrota lace of the author Nada Radovic from Kotor.
This professor of Kotor High School in pension is the only women in Boka who still makes the famous Doborta lace – milieus, table cloths, scarves, and other items made of lace, which is a certain artistic piece of work.
Family Radimir in Kotor preserves a hat decorated with Dobrota lace from XV century. About 70 valuable pieces of Doborta lace are found in artistic collection of the church of St. Eustahija in Doborta, and the altar cover made of Dobrota lace is kept in the church of Blessed Gracija on Mulo near Kotor.
The hat, which is owned by family Radimir, at the beginning of the XX century was a gem among the exhibits of one of the most famous European artistic exhibits in Vienna, and the altar cover from Blessed Gracija, which was made by sisters Anica Djurovic and Pina Jankovic, was in 1924 an exhibit on a display in Paris.
Exquisite effort and skill which Dobrota embroidery demands best illustrates the record that it is embroidered “upside down”, that is with the ears of a needle, and that for making of a centimeter of lace it takes up even several hours.
For making of Dobrota lace there is no pattern, that is, a sample, everything is made by an original and unique draft of the woman who are doing the embroidery, who are most often inspired by motifs from their closest surrounding.
Radovic’s miniatures from Dobrota lace, made as applications on clothes, were shown by models of fashion studio “Da Qui” whose older colleagues later at the unique fashion show wore original old samples of female underwear from XIX century.
