Tivat – The Mayor of Tivat Dragan Kankaras noted yesterday as minor the offer of the Cyprus Company Akciona investment Ltd. Of 28,3 millions of euros for 85% of the stocks of Belgrade Company Putnik in whose ownership is the island Sveti Marko in Tivat bay.
In yesterdays addressing to press Kankaras has repeated his attitude that they should go back on the last year’s plan of sale of the island as the most valuable property of Putnik, instead of offering it in the package with all other property through the stock market sale of stocks.
Last year’s two attempts to sell Sveti Marko at a starting price of 16, 7 millions of euros was forestalled by the processes which Putnik and American company Uniworlds Holdings Ltd are having in Montenegrin courts, which has made Belgrade to change the strategy and to offer to the investors on the stock market the shares of the entire Putnik together with their island on Montenegrin coast.
Pointing out that he has no intention of interfering in the jurisdiction of Serbian authorities and organs of management of Puntik, Kankaras has warned that the Municipality of Tivat, the representative offices of Putnik in Montenegro and Montenegrin Government have noted that the sale of the island Sveti Marko as a part of property is the best way for revitalization of Putnik, but also for fast bringing back in life of that attractive summer resort on a map of prestigious tourist destinations.
– We are especially interested in valorization of this locality which is out of tourist function for full 17 years, even though it is one of the most exclusive and most attractive places in the entire Adriatic. Honestly I am hoping that the major owner and its representatives, that is, the Agency for privatization of Serbia will not accept the offer of Akciona investment. That offer is something that absolutely is least suitable to all interested parties. It is not in the interest of Putnik and its workers, and it is least in the interest of the Municipality of Tivat. This a step back for at least 2 or 3 years because Cyprus company is offering only 20 millions of investments fro the entire Puntik, which is far too little for any serious valorization of the island of Sveti Marko – said Kankaras.
Reminding that the attractive island of 300 thousands of square meters demands far more bigger investments so that the most quality tourist contents which are predicted with the Master plan of tourism and the spacious plan of Morsko dobro could be made, Kankaras said that 20 years ago, overhearing about the possible change of strategy concerning the sale of Sveti Marko he has sent letters to all relevant subjects in Belgrade in which he expressed the expectation of Montenegrin side for continuation of the sale of solely the island because that is the best way to protect the interests of the employees of Puntik, Municipality of Tivat and Montenegro.
– We are only interested and think that it is the only right and possible way for the fast sale of Sveti Marko, and all of that to a distinguished investor who will have possibilities, means and knowledge to valorize that locality in the right way. If we know that the staring price is 16, 7 millions of euros, and that according to that which we have at our disposal there were interested buyers who were ready to offer up to 40 millions of euros, than all of this which is submitted in the offer of the Cyprus Company for the entire Puntik looks completely minor – concluded Kankaras. Puntik in its property has several other hotels in Serbia.
