Tivat – If the demands of the local people from Lepetane related to problems with traffic jams, pollution and noise which is caused by ferry engines are not fulfilled as soon as possible the citizens as a sign of warning will block the pier of the ferry in Lepetane as well as the approaching road for the cars – it was said two nights ago at the meeting of citizens.
Among others Mayor of Tivat Dragan Kankaras and director and the owner of Pomorski saobracaj Dejan Ban were present at the meeting.
They say that they are determined to get their demands fulfilled in order to improve the quality of life because the main developmental direction of Lepetane is tourism, and the condition on the ferry crossing is jeopardizing the chances of that developmental branch in Lepetane.
Local people have repeated their initiative for the ferry pier to me relocated from Lepetane to new location on cape Opatovo, and that in the meantime they should built the third traffic line on the highway and to increase police controls on the road.
According to their opinion Pomorski saobracaj should give certain amount of money to Municipality of Tivat, which would be directed to LC Lepetane for improvement of live and working conditions of local people.
Local people have asked from the authorities last night that several infrastructure problems such as sewerage system, roads, and opening of an health ambulance should be solved.
THIRD LINE ON THE HIGHWAY
Mayor Kankaras has promised that the third line on Adriatic highway, at the approach to Lepetane will soon be built, saying that the Municipality has already began to negotiate with the Ministry of defense about the entrance in the complex of former military premise in order to get the space for widening of the road.
He rejected the proposition for the ferry pier to be relocated to Opatovo because that location does not fulfill certain conditions.
– In accordance with our abilities local administration will try to solve other infrastructural problems which the citizens have demanded until the beginning of the next season – said Kankaras.
BAN: WE ARE NOT GUILTY FOR THE JAMS
Rejecting the accusations Dejan Ban said that he bears no responsibility when they are talking about the traffic jams because they are the product of bad road infrastructure.
He said that he is only responsible if the ferry gets stuck and has announced that starting from the next season the fleet will have one more ferry, a modern one which has biiger capacities than the existing ferries.
– The noise of the ferries is below the limits given by law, and the accusations of drop out of oil and sewerage waters are completely false – said Ban suggesting to local people to form an expert commission which will come on the ferry and see that with their own eyes.
Ban said that Pomorski saobracaj has already paid in an advance payment for the purchase of a silencer for chimneys on the ferries so that problem too will be solved during the fall.
