Tivat – The chiefs of tourist economy and the Municipality Tivat are pleased with this year’s season, as well as with the results of the traditional pole conducted among tourists.
Pointing out that he cannot give precise data about the number of guests and overnight stays until the 1st of October, because Monstat still hasn’t processed them, the mayor and the president of TO Dragan Kankaras said that in this year too they are expecting a continuity of growth of the physical circulation for about 5%. He stated that for 6 months of this year 10% more overnight stays were achieved, that it was the case last year.
All local public enterprises have functioned extremely well this year. There were no problems in water supply because only for 10 days restrictions were applied, and they were applied during the night. Tivat this summer was the only town on the Montenegrin coast where parking was not charged, and the airport in this year will have a record scope of traffic, which is 450.000 passengers – stated Kankaras on a yesterday’s press conference.
Local authorities and management of Tivat HTE, he added did everything that they could to make possible that the tourist economy of town can function in best possible way. However, he expressed his dissatisfaction with the slow dynamic of investment in the hotels “Mimoza” (Mimosis) and “Primorije”(Coast).
The strangest privatizations in Montenegrin tourism happened to those two HTE – “Primorije” through a process of mass vouch and “Mimoza” through Bach- sale method. Until now, in sense of the significant investment in the facilities did not give much effect and all of us have to work more actively in order to correct that. Tivat, along with Ulcinj, has a dominant place in the Master plan of the dvelopment of tourism, and this town deserves to have only hotels with 4 and 5 stars – said Kankars.
The director of “Primorije” Predrag Jelusic said that ,that HTE for 9 months has accommodated 10.276 tourist in hotels “Palma” and “Plavi horizont” and had the circulation of 84.490 overnight stays.
Three quarters of our guests are foreigners. Until the end of October we will have a contracted sales of about 80% of our capacities for the next season – pointed out Jelusic, adding that one Slovenian consultant firm has made a strategy of development of “Primorije”, which foresees the investment of about 90 millions of euros in the hotels, and the reconstruction of the first hotel will begin next year.
The director of the “Mimoza” Branko Vukmanovic is pleased because that HTE has already, until the 1st of October, surpassed the complete financial plan for this year. He added that until the beginning of the next tourist season “Mimoza” will finish the reconstruction of the remaining 9 villas in the complex “Park” and will renew the hotel “Pine” to make a hotel with 3 stars.
