Perast – Tonci Mirosevic, member of Main unit of Boka Navy is the winner of this year ritual of shooting chained and at board fixed rooster that took place yesterday at Perast. The rooster was first put at sea at distance of 150 meters and later after series of unsuccessful tries of members of Boka Navy that as for tradition first shoot the rooster and than citizens was put to distance of hundred meters when Mirosevic succeeded to shoot it.
The winner received the towel with embroidered year 2006 and shot rooster and after that was obliged, as tradition says, greet all participants with 50 liters of wine.
Shooting of rooster takes place every year on May 15 as reminder of great victory of Perast citizens over Turks that on that day in 1654 won over army of Mahmed Aga Rizvanagic.
Celebration started with arrival of unit of Boka Navy in front of church of St. Nicola after which they with Brass band visited Perast and danced traditional dance at the square.
At church of St. Nicola was held holy mass and after that in procession on street was carried picture of Gospa od Skrpjela for great victory over Turks Perast citizens awarded to protection and miracle of Holy Mary.
Organizers of the manifestation are local community of Perast and Association of friends of town of Perast.
