Plav – Mountaineers of “Hrid” from Plav for the weekend have organized the international mountain winter expedition on the highest peak of Prokletije Maja jezerce which is located in Albania. From 25 mountaineers from Pec, Prisina, Rozaje, two from Banja Luka, and one from Italy, 17 of them managed to come to the very summit. Maja jezerce is located at 2.696 meters of height above the sea level, but with GPS they have measure the height of 2.701 meters, which means that on the very summit the height of the snow cover was five meters. This was the biggest expedition which ever visited this summit in winter conditions, and at the same time the biggest success of Mountaineering skiing club “Hrid”.
– For Mountaineers there was a ride organized and the accommodation to watch tower Zastan in Vusanje. Two and a half hours after the midnight we started the expedition. Even though the climb was very demanding, the time was ideal for mountain climbing, so we managed to get in six hours on Maja jezerca. In the group of 17 climbers who reached the summit there were some experienced and excellent people who gave us additional motif to succeed. Several climbers who didn’t have the necessary equipment, stayed in the foothill of the mountain, because for them further climbing would be a risk – told us the leader of the expedition Enes Dreskovic.
I want to thank all the member of MSC “Hrid” for the organization of this expedition, and we hope that our further cooperation will be even better. We still want to come to Prokletije, but we also want all other to come to us – said Lajci.
The members of the expedition have used the nice weather for taking pictures and shooting of winter beauties of Prokletije and the very climbing, so a special promotional DVD material will be made in Pec. The Mountain association of Montenegro and MSC “Hrid” organized the expedition on Maja jezerce.
