Podgorica – The greatest value of Montenegro are its natural beauties and it should be considered well before entering in any kind of changes of environment – said one of the creators of Master plan of development of tourism Johan Friedrich Engel.
He thinks that Montenegro should use solar energy in order to solve the deficit of electricity instead of building great energetic facilities, which would jeopardize the nature.
– In three to five years Montenegro could use the solar energy and a recommendation in the revised Master plan will be the usage of that energy, for example on Skadar Lake – said Engel.
He reminded that Montenegro is an ecological state, but that people from abroad who come here notice that it is not quite clean.
– The things have improved, but this is still not a clean country. A lot of measure should be taken – said Engel.
That, as he added, is not a matter of policy but of citizens. Montenegrin people should not pollute the environment and throw litter.
– Above all you have to make dumps, educate the public and every Montenegrin should be included in that process – said Engel.
According to his words, Montenegro is already a familiar destination, 5 years ago no one new about it, and now it is already on the tourist map of the world.
He warned that, beside that, still not all the criteria for quality tourist offer have been fulfilled, “but it is obvious that it is being worked on that”.
The main problem of Montenegro is, as he noted, the insufficient capacity in hotels, which are not market oriented, and the majority of then does not provide the contents which the guests demand, such as sports, children, fitness and wellness contents.
– There are also some other problems – above all the infrastructure jams, especially in tourist places such as Budva, Herceg Novi, Ulcinj – you simply can’t move, and the pavements for pedestrians are filled with cars – said Engel.
Municipal authorities, as he added, should immediately take some measures of action in order to surpass those problems.
