Kolasin
Kolasin is a city in the North of Montenegro. Founded by Turks in the 17th century, this small city is a must-visit place. The restless Rivers Tara and Moraca stream along it, surrounded by mountains like Sinjajevina, Bjelasica, Kljuc, and Vucje.
Located at 954m altitude, Kolasin offers excellent vacations in both winter and summer. Its altitude and favorable climate make it an air spa.
A special tourist attraction is Lake Biograd in National Park Biogradska gora, one of Europe’s three preserved virgin forests. The lake sits at 1094m altitude with walking paths around it.

History and Significance of Kolasin
Over its three-century history, Kolasin shared the fate of many Montenegrin towns, changing hands between occupiers and liberators. Indeed, it was destroyed and liberated 23 times, often in ruins. Tribes from Rovci and Moraca played a key role in its creation and liberation, especially during the 17th and 18th centuries.
The municipality of Kolasin covers 900 km2 in central Montenegro, along the Tara and Moraca rivers. It has about 12,000 citizens, with 6,000 in the town center.
