Montenegro is full of beautiful mountains, but when it comes to hiking, Mount Durmitor is definitely one of the top destinations. It offers variety of trails for both novice and more experienced hikers.

Bobotov Kuk (2523m / 8278′) is officially the highest peak in Montenegro. It is located at the very heart of Mount Durmitor and offers unique view of surrounding breathtaking landscape.

There are many trails which lead to the top, and you can pick the one that best suits your preference. If you’ll be visiting Durmitor for the first time, we recommend the tour that starts at Sjedlo (Saddle), and slowly climbs up towards the Bobotov Kuk. It will take between 4-6 hours to get there, but each step of the way the nature will astonish you with magical landscapes and beautiful lakes. Even if you try this tour in mid-summer, you’ll find few places with snow – perfect spot to cool your refreshment.

No matter which trail you choose, we would not advise you to go out there on your own. Please hire a professional guide. Montenegro mountains can be dangerous.

Due to very steep terrain, last few hundred meters/feet is a bit challenging, but once you get to the top and sit on the highest rock in Montenegro, you’ll feel the powerful burst of energy. The view from up there is just astonishing. There are no words to describe it but to experience it yourself.
